Remote Play Together. 1 PC and 1 iPhone 7
I'd like to "Remote Play Together" with a friend who only owns an iPhone 7. I am running a beefy Windows PC, enough to handle it.

I am able to invite my friend to a remote play together game, but the links inviting him are not clickable on his iPhone. Is it possible to run Steam on a single PC and host an iPhone 7 while playing the game on my PC. I've tested this inside and outside my firewall and it doesn't make a difference.

I can control steam remotely from an iPhone or TV from my TV. I do have a Steam Controller. I also have (but may no longer be using) the Steam Link Hardware. My friend OnlyBill sees "You invited OnlyBill to play Golf With Your Friends via Steam Remote Play" on his phone but it isn't clickable. Also using Join from within the phone steam client doesn't work even after the invite. Thoughts?

Oh and I tried using Golf With Your Friends and Table Top Simulator.

Jim

Phones... don't run steam games.

That is mostly correct. Steam games don't run natively on a phone. However, the remote play feature is designed to allow Steam to stream the video and sound to a device such as a phone or TV (ideally you have a controller as well)... thus allowing you to play remotely. I'm having issues with the "together" part of it I guess.

Your phone or TV basically acts as a monitor and speakers and a remote controller allows you to interact with Steam.

Darn, I was hoping someone would know. I should maybe look at the documentation?

I'm assuming your friend has the steamlink app installed on their phone?

Yes, they do. I also have an iPhone 6 in my house I can test with. I can put it inside or outside the firewall as needed to test. I've used the iPhone as a remote screen and was able to remote play alone ;) . Anyway, thank you for the reply. I'd love to learn more.

Not possible to do as remoteplay need you to use the Steam app which is only on Windows, Mac, and linux, not iphones, or android.

Could think of Steam link, or look into some kind of apps that does remote control access on iphone to PC to have your friend gain access to your PC, and try that way but this is something you and your friend have to look into.

So I think the take away here is if I want to remote play TOGETHER from phones, I'll need a PC running Steam for each player??

Depending on the game can try looking it this way, where you and him can play together on the same PC using a local support game, of course this will be a problem as how small phone screens are so not really idea as basically you're mirror what on your PC to his iphone screen, but if that not a problem, then can play together on a local support game, issue you find is that only one of you will have audio, so to fix that is to go to your audio settings on your PC, and enable listen to Steam audio, to mirror audio to another output such as your headphones / speakers.

Now for games that has online coop / multiplayer there no way to run two instances of Steam on the same PC, so this will need a 2nd PC, basically your friend need to Steamlink to the 2nd PC, and control the 2nd PC on his iphone, and then you, and your friend play together basically, that all there is to it really.
