I use DualShock 4 v2 with the Asus BT-400 adapter (desktop); integrated Bluetooth (laptop) and it works just fine.
I only use Steam's built-in configurator, by having gone under [Steam > Settings > Controller]
Then just set it up per game if I want i.e. Steam screenshotting & Shadowplay as extra macros to the default layout.
The Witcher 3 for example has native support for DualShock 4 though, so you might want to try it without the configurator. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Witcher_3:_Wild_Hunt#Input_settings
As a further note, not every game has DualShock 4 button prompts (even with mods). Very few do.
in the site you sent about the witcher what i need to do ?
Unticking the PS4 Configuration Support should allow the game to use the DirectInput API instead of Steam emulating it for Xinput (which also changes the button prompts for that game).
Press the PS button again to activate the controller.
The game should pick it up then.
Some games with native support (like Okami HD) have a specific configuration profile you can find by right mouse clicking the game on library and choosing [Edit Steam Controller Configuration] while the controller is enabled.
Not sure which The Witcher 3 belongs to, but I’d assume it should work in DirectInput (configuration off). If it stills shows Xbox prompts even with the configurator turned off, then unless the prompts are an in-game setting, I’d suspect some program is doing the controller emulation.
PCGamingWiki shows that game not only has the native support, but has the button prompts and the contextual lightbar use.
