What happened to the game avatars?

a lot of the game avatars are missing, is it supposed to be like that?

If you are browsing avatars through your profile editing page you may only stumble upon 5 "preview" avatars at once that you can pick per game, despite the fact that there may be many more than that.

As far as I interpret it, it doesn't look like Steam has yet provided infrastructure to pick between ALL avatars as part of the new library, which is why pages like https://steamcommunity.com/games/TF2/Avatar/List may only be accessable by searching online. If you find yourself knowing what to substitute already, you could probably replace "TF2" for your own game of choice. Otherwise consider digging for a similar page to find the avatar that you want.

What's even more bizarre is that you can actually backtrack from these pages into the "official steam group" for that game, wherefrom you would normally find the avatar selection page above; which is also persistently grey as part of the old theme and supposedly hasn't been incorporated yet either.

If any regulars (or mods if they have the time) know the current story behind whether it is actually currently possible to access these pages without a direct link like the one above somehow then feel free to chime in or pass this forward because it should probably be made more intuitive than it is right now.

Some games had many avatars, but its only allowing me to see up to 5 per game(Dawn of War 2 comes to mind. Used to also have the Commander as an avatar, thats no longer visible). Furthermore, there are many games that are missing from the avatars list entirely, that used to be there!

I know you cannot get back avatars you have changed (there used to be a list of random avatars on rotation, that changed occasionally), but you always had a list of avatars for most of your games.. Some of those are now missing

I'd like to see Steam improve accessibility here. If you've bought a game (or downloaded a FTP) then you ought to have permanent ready access to all the avatars (unless the avatar has been banned for some reason).

Click "View all XX avatars" and pick the one you want.

can be adapted to any game by using the steamappid instead of an acronym, like so

although it seems that in the cases where the game already has an acronym, it wont quite work like that.
i will look into it to see if there is a reliable way to do it, i figure i'll find it in the edit profile screen
