You'll notice, if you look very carefully, that most of the world isn't "Corporate America." You'll even notice that most of America isn't "Corporate America".

People that tend to pander and economically destroy companies tend to get lucky, get somewhere high in the tiers, and infect it the moment they get the opportunity to do so; it's not about the brand, the service, it's about what they want to push.
Forbid anything ever happen to the man, I would seriously worry about the future of Steam and someone trying to turn it into the next fb/reddit/twitter/twitch/dc/disney where "Screw the product, I'm pushing my politics down all your throats and ruining everything".
Let's just hope, if anything ever happens, that he has someone in line that would keep it true to what it is.
Do you have any idea how many people have lost their jobs in companies that have pandered, shoved political messages and political products in peoples faces? You sell the product/service, not ones own politics; people want the product/service, and nothing else.
Look at the state of a lot of companies, film, comics, etc; so many of them are dying, there's massive layoffs, purges of employees that won't follow the new creed. Why should people lose their livelyhoods because some very not intelligent executive decided to play politics?
Yes, of course, being a human being is hard. But I don't personally have much sympathy for people who subscribe to whatever ideals they live by and then complain about them. You don't like male tropes of masculinity? Grow a spine and live your own life. In theory that would be more manly, wouldn't it?
Besides, based on demographics alone, despite all the "male hardship" you describe I'm going to say hands down, better to be a man in a majority of instances...
"Grow a spine" is exactly one of the "male tropes of manliness" that's causing folks to not seek help when they need it.
In fact GabeN has a son and he's already way into Valve. I dunno if he is actually working there already in some way or another or if he just takes part over there because of family interests but he definatly puts a lot of lifetime into Valves projects.
He did many Q/As especially on the YouTube channel Valve News Network and is pretty active on Reddit concering Valve and Steam. He is essentially a gamedeveloper already with his very own startup.
And as far as the public knows GabeN and his son have a good relationship so I would assume that even if GabeN won't find a worthy successor his son will come into play and he will do his best to keep GabeNs legacy rolling. He himself claimed the dream to "step out of GabeN's shadow" but of course he wont ever let this company die
