Games with Cartography/Mapping?
I've seen Hollow Knight has some mapping, does it go deeper than purely buying pins? Also are there any other games like this and Etrian Odyssey where mapping is part of the gameplay?

I will take a look thanks! :) Have you played the Etrian Odyssey series? Bascially the dungeon maps start blank and as you move around in it it draws the basic outline you. You can then add markers and points of interest on the map yourself that you might want to remember as well as label dead ends etc. Some of these types of games make it a profession that you can sell your maps and make money. Hope that clears things up.

Yea no i get it, no i have not played that game.
The game that would come the near that would be the civilasations games.... it turn based where you play a naton trou out history... exploration is a big part of it and you can sell your maps to other leaders.

the other side you seem to like procedual dungeons. (thou dont know any wih map selling marking) like dungeons of dreadmore / darkest dungeon

Minecraft. You not only explore maps, you change them. And editing the area affects them. Modded minecraft might use mod minimaps a lot.

This has a world map and local one. Where each island might have something.

Thanks peeps. I wouldnt say MC's gameplay is based on cartography tho, mapping is there but its not very essential to the gameplay unless you are hunting for The End or something. Was more talking about games where you CREATE the map and fill it out with markers and treasure spots like Dungeon Crawlers. 😊

Perhaps Dungeon Encounters? It's got plenty of mapping and backtracking, and although it's not for everyone, it seems like a game that fits the themes here.
