The upcoming Ni No Kuni looks great as well.
Either way just pick something that looks interesting to you.
From the newer JRPG games "Tales of Berseria" is very good. The Atelier games from Koei Tecmo are also a lot of fun.
Also Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will give you two awesome games for the price of one.
I played every single Final Fantasy game up to 15 and i can say that 13 is the worst of them all.
Its barely a game, its a "run down a linear corridor and hammer X for 35 hours" simulator.
Apart from the graphics the game has absolutly nothing going for it.
Plus the pc port is atrocious and cant even keep 60 FPs on the strongest hardware.
Of course that is just my opinion and if you love the game, kudos to you.
For me it was one of the biggest gaming disappointments of all time.
Recently played X/X-2 as well, and i would say this is possibly the safest game to start the series with, if OP hasn't played any Final Fantasy game. (Although X-2 is a bit of a miss for me.)
Also, my personal favorite would be Phantasy Star IV.
Phantasy Star IV is awesome. Played that to death on my Mega Drive in the 90s.
All the Phantasy Star games are great, i even like PS III which most people dont like.
I just thought the generation system was kind of cool.
Phantasy Star II is also great but very grindy for todays standards. Also not a lot of story.
I think the Phantasy Star games are all on Steam as part of those Sega Genesis Bundles.
