My icons keep shrinking

all of my icons that are "Internet Shortcut (.url)" which steam seems to use on all my games, have shrunk, they were working fine full size icon for a while now, they are small, sometimes some of them go back to normal then they shrink again, I have no idea why they keep shrinking, all of my other icons are fine and my gaming folder would look nice if all the icons stay the right size, i tried a few things, restart pc, deleting that "IconCache" no luck, it just doesnt make since, my icon were fine and now they aren't it doing my head in cause it doesnt make sense

Try holding ctrl and scrolling or holding ctrl and pressing the + and - minus buttons. it will change the size of your icons. They do not normally change on their own so perhaps you have a frequent keyboard shortcut you use and happen to accidentally change their size, maybe you have something malicious changing the icon size.

thxs for your reply, I didnt think it will solve my problem but I gave it a shot, which it didn't help

after I posted my first comment, at some point my dead by daylight icon went back to normal size, though some other icons are still small, also please remember all of my normal icons/shortcuts are fine and the right size, the only icons that seem to get small are the "Internet Shortcut (.url)" which aren't your normal shortcuts, steam uses them and epic games

I dont know if it mailcious or not, but something is affecting my "Internet Shortcut (.url)"

Hello I know that it is 3 years later but, I found a fix that I think that works. The trick is converting the shortcuts from .URL type icons to normal shortcuts (.LNK extension).

You could do it manually one at at time using the create shortcut wizard by Windows, and using something like this in as the target "explorer.exe steam://rungameid/520720" You can take the rungameid/#### from the original url shortcut opening it with notepad.

That creates a normal shortcut that you can change its icon and it won't change size randomly as the URL icons do.

It's doable for a couple of games, but if you have too many it becomes a huge chore, so I made a small utility that automatically converts URL shortcuts to normal shortcuts, check it here https://github.com/vixark/Url-Shortcut-to-Lnk-Converter . Probably someone else could create a batch for doing the same thing.

Easy Manual Fix
Steam >> Library >> Right Click on Game >> Manage >> Browse to local Files >> right click on the game executable and create a shortcut.
