What is the Wait time before I can add more friends ?
It looks like you've sent too many friend invites. To prevent spam, you'll have to wait before you can invite more friends. Please note that other players can still add you during this time.

I am wanting to know because I am trying to play Dead by Daylight with others.

You can send 30 friend invites a week.
After that you get a cooldown till the next week.

you have to wait at least the full time before you try again any time you try before the time is up resets the length of the restriction.

You are not going to like the answer...

Stop sending requests. Everytime you do, it resets the cooldown.

The cooldown varies from 1 week up to 1 month "from the last time you saw the error message." Key point in quotes. This means if you saw the message today, you have to wait a full month before you can send another. Have them add you instead.

Read this post that explains a little bit of the new restriction...

After 30 send you have to wait a week before you can send more.
If you still cant send a friend request after 6 weeks like you described, you should contact Steam Support.
There is clearly something wrong there.

Did do so, apologies for forgetting to mention. This is what they replied with before closing the ticket abrubtly:

The duration is different for each user and can last 1 week or up to 1 month from the last time you saw the message. Please note, Steam Support is also unable to remove or modify this limit.

We don't have any further information in regards to this limit but if you would like to share your thoughts or suggestions regarding it, we encourage you to share it in the Steam Discussions as this forum is regularly read by the Valve Development team.

Since there's not much more that we can say or do for this, I am going to go ahead and close this help request.

If you have any other unrelated questions or issues, please create a new one and we will be happy to assist you.

The cooldown has many variables for when the account gets this message. No 1 account is the same in this matter. Some will get it after 1 invite, others 30.

I will never understand why people think they need to have hundreds of friends on steam.

But most dont even interact with those "friends". They just collect them like trading cards.
I seen users with 1000+ "friends" on their list, i doubt they even talked to 1/10th of those since adding them.

I just feel its pointless and just some sort of strange "status" symbol to fill your friend list up.

I usually keep my friend list around 40 or so and every half year i kick everyone i did not interact with in a few months. Then it builds up again.
That way i usually have regular interactions with most of the people on my list which is kind of the point i think.
At least to me.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, going from a couple hundreds to a thousand or more changes the situation a bit, as I see’t—that’s pretty far beyond Dunbar’s number, so I’d tend to have a similar assessment of such a tendency.

It does start to feel as though social relationships have become more commodified due to the influence of social media. :lifetree:

Maybe that's why I don't get it. I've never had any social media accounts.

Same here. Never used Myspace, Twitter, Facebook and how they are all called in my entire life.
Just never needed those "services".
The most "social media" interaction i have is on the Steam forums.

It's a status thing, the more people you have no idea who they are the more status.

And no, I don't understand it either unless you are an 'influencer' and then I don't understand who the morons are that they 'influence'.

That's why I am not an internet marketing and ad billionaire who became a billionaire by people clicking on ads that no one I have ever met has ever admitted to clicking on other than accidentally.
