Family-Share Portal 2 Co-op
Hey,

I am family-sharing Portal 2 from someone else's library, and was wondering if I have to purchase the game to be able to play it online co-op with a friend (who will own a copy of it himself), because I know that you can't play CS:GO online when it's family-shared, and Portal 2 is also a valve game.

Thanks.

You are family sharing with person "A" and what to play with person "B"?

If that's the case then you can play co-op with person "B" but only while person "A" doesn't play anything from their Library.

So basically, if you family is playing and invites you to the game on another machine you can't play it? Right now it says to me "All License are being used"

Use Remote Play Together to play Portal 2 with friends/family.

:qr:
Some shared games have restricted online access to prevent people from easy smurfing or even cheating via infinite alt accounts that don't need to pay for the game. I doubt this applies to Portal 2

An account only gets ONE copy of the game to play, so if you family share only one person can play at time.

You can stop telling them this, they know. Reading helps sometimes!

Sorry to bump this really old thread, but I have a question.

With the new changes/updates to family sharing, would it now be possible for 1 person (person A) to buy the game and have it family shared to person B; then they could play co-op together? (person A and B in coop games)

You need enough copies in the family. So if there are only 2 of you and only 1 of you have a copy, only 1 of you can play it.

Use Remote Play Together.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
