#20 (catgirl lover) is a softcore porn game directly ripped from bejeweled/candy crush. tagged nudity and sexual content but still passes default filters.
#23 (taboos: cracks) is the same but with old maid. Tagged sexual content and nudity, and passes default filters.
#25 (bit blaseter XL) is an asteroid-inspired space shooter with 5k+ reviews, 97% approval and 0 adult content.
So if I sort by lowest price without changing my filters, 2 4 games still get by it. 11 more are blocked in the top 25, none of which seem to offer any original gameplay except for maybe waifu hell which looks like a doom clone, but is actually blocked by the filter. Also, Genital jousting is all ♥♥♥♥♥ and doesn't get blocked by the filter. And again, the issue is not the filter, or that its porn, but that there is no game aspect to it that justifies selling it. There's hundreds of other games on steam that are vaporware without porn, and they should get removed too (on a case-by-case basis), but I absolutely expect to go through vaporware because its a game marketplace.
Edit: just noticed hentai killer and anime standing also pass the filters and are tagged sexual content and/or nudity
If porn games bother you so much, you just have to activate the filter for adult content. I don't see how it seems so hard.
Also, the store tends to show you things similar to what you have or search. I don't look for porn games so I have very little porn games showing in my front page.
Otherwise, if you look for the cheapest games on the store, of course you'll find low quality asset flips/porn games. If you search at the bottom of the trash can, don't be surprised to find garbage.
Unfortunately you are writing on the Steam forums so you'll get a ton of little kids defending and Complaining about your concerns.
As a parent though I wont be letting them use steam for a few years until they are old enough as even kids games get mixed up with porn games sometimes in a search every so often.
Steam just needs to make an Adult only section just like how ebay keeps it separate from their main items (Yes Ive been there), verify your age and keep it out of the kids site.
No, thank you. If you don't want to see porn or don't want your kids to see porn, just set the apropriate filter. For everyone else, having to visit two storefronts to browse games is a pointless hassle.
Why a special section for 18+-games but not one for, let's say, 12+ anyway? There's heaps of games not qualifiying as porn but certainly too mature for kids (Killing Floor 2 would an example). would you want them in a separate section too?
Most games on Steam dont even have a ESRB rating.
Also national review boards like PEGI or USK have different standards for what is appropiate.
A game that is rated M in the USA for sexual content may be "USK 12" here in Germany because we are far less sensible to nudity and sex in media.
On the other hand, gory games that are rated T in the USA may be "USK 16" or "USK 18" here.
So which rating would need to be enforced? Each national one? Good luck with most countries dont even having something like that.
