You dont get points by buying on steam market?

I dont believe thats true. I pulled this from the point shops help page.

You just read his response wrong.

He meant the store purchases. He wasn't responding to the Market question at all.

But in game purchases do grant points. Like CS:GO cases, keys and capsules from within the game itself.
