Moderators don't moderate
So I've been having issues with moderators not responding to flagged comments or posts. I see it's a very small team. But here's the thing. If they appoint moderators (volunteer or not), and then this moderators are never active. Why don't they recruit more? The current ones obviously don't care. So wtf steam?

if your kids are already teens, a little toxicity isn't going to break them.. its nothing compared to the attitudes people present at your average high school cafeteria..

and as stated earlier, your kids can play games perfectly fine without having to go on message boards.. none of the games on Steam require you to read or post on boards..

I obviously don't know what posts you're referring to specifically and therefore have no idea if the flags were applied justly, but I have seen quite a lot of active moderation happening all across the forums.
I've flagged many. I've asked questions in games hubs about specs and all I get is toxicity. Wether you have knowledge about the game or not, you can see when someone is being just down right condencending. And it's happening alot. You can preach to me about not seeing but if you were to dig further. You'd see what I'm saying is the truth

Global moderators generally moderate the main Steam forums, though a few of them have adopted the CSGO and TF2 forums.

Game forums are for the game developers to moderate or appoint their own moderators; global moderators tend not to intervene in game hubs unless it got really bad.

But yeah, most mods are stretched thin with the amount of rulebreakers that they have to deal with, so nowadays I usually only report when it’s getting bad and requires their attention. Otherwise there’s just so many reports for them to go through.
That policy needs to change then. Steam moderators, wether it's game hub or not, could step in. But not obligated to, so they dont. That's like saying a doctor couldn't save someone because he wasn't obligated to.

It’s not about obligated to; it’s about not stepping on the toes of game developers. Because the game devs usually have different ideas of what is allowed on their games’ forums.
Then why don't they use discretion? I mean moderators are players too ya? So if they have knowledge of the Game and they are a moderator of the system that runs the game. They should have a say so.

Not necessarily trying to preach to anyone about anything. All I'm trying to convey is that sometimes these things can be in a bit of a gray area - what someone could consider downright rude and offensive, might not actually be breaking any rules and thus won't get a reaction from anyone doing the moderating. Aside from overt insulting and rule-breaking of any other kind, it's going to be up to the discretion of whoever reviews the flagged content.

It makes no sense. The devs have to be able to put the game on steam. If anything steam moderators should be above the developers picked ones. It's STEAM
So, when I need help all I can get are 14 year old douches with unicode pics of tits? Yeah real winning system
I tell you what. I'll shut up if I can get a link or phone number to steam. So I can voice my opnion

At the same time, Valve doesn’t want to anger the other game developers by dictating how their game hubs should be run.

All game forums are required to follow Steam’s terms of service, but some game hubs are more lenient, while others are more strict.

Feel free to contact Steam Support and air your grievances. I doubt you’d get the answer you want to hear, though.

I hate seeing this like it is tho. Its such a toxic atmosphere. And yes right now I'm mad. It's gotta change because I sure as hell don't want my kids playing steam, asking a question on the forums, only to be told and I quote, "your computer is ♥♥♥♥ so kill yourself" see where Im coming from this? I'm a dad of 3. They love watching daddy play games. Which means they will play games. I don't wanna see my son's or daughter do something because of what they read on a steam forum. You get me now?

Thanks saber.

I'll give it a shot but I will be adamant about this. I have read and I do understand the policy the company has made. But it needs to change. If the dev companies won't do anything about it, then the conglomerate should.

They do moderate, and they do not have to respond to you, you report a post violating the rules and move on, a moderator look at it, and decide what has to happen, nothing you have to speculate about.

Gamehubs is moderated mostly by the developer/publisher, and a lot of them don't care, best you can do, ignore the bad apples, don't take their bait.
