How can I friend people on steam for free without paying a 5 dollars.
Me and my friend. Well, my friend just got steam today and we both haven't spent anything on steam yet. We want to friend each other, but we aren't "actual" steam customers. I'm just asking if there is any other way to friend people for free. If not, oh well. Edit: Oh, I just wanted to play counter strike global offensive with my friends I can now because I can just invite them.

No, at least one of you needs an unlimited steam account to send friend requests.

ya. steam is a paid service, this is a market place. if you just wanna play free games you can, but you can't access the main features of steam unless u spend at least $5 and then continue to make at least 1 purchase a year.

Only market needs interaction 1 time a year. And none of the requirements are about that it costs money.

You dont need to buy something for 5 now. Loading wallet is enough, and next sale (coming week or so) you find a nice game to play. Maybe with your friend.
Its against spam throwaway accounts.

You literally did, for example in this topic.

It's not, you just don't understand the policy or the whys. It's been like that for years now.

Quite some people only play CS:GO, DOTA 2, TF2, Paladins or other free to play multiplayer games.

I dont care about the policy or whys, the second I buy a game I pay for the steam service, I should be allowed to use the features.. imagine blocking someone who paid $300 in a rl store from adding friends
It used to be that activating keys bought elsewhere also unlimited accounts. But of course bundles came and people could easily get lots of keys for just a buck. Which enabled spammers and scammers even more.

If you buy games elsewhere, that's money that Valve/Steam never sees. So they don't know it's been paid and doesn't count. Only money spend *on* Steam itself counts.

Steam, and many people, don't care what you want. That we now deal with much less spammers and such is much more important than your inconvenience.

If steam is required for a game you buy in a shop to run, its just a form of copy protection

It's 5 dollars in a life time. If you can afford internet, and maybe even video games, you can afford 5 dollars once 8n your life.
