Chat is lagging when typing.
Whenever I type to a friend, it lags so badly, it's horrid. I type so fast that everything just freezes up and eventually slowly types like after 10 seconds after I've finished typing the sentence... This just started today, I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro the other day and it's never done this before. Any ideas?

Specs:

Intel i7 4790K 4.6 GHz
32GB DDR3 ram 1886 MHz
2 GTX 1070's 2100 MHz.
500GB 860 Evo SSD.

In Steam overlay?


I could suggest giving this a try, and see if it helps, but not sure. Top of Steam client, click on "Steam" click on "Settings" then click on "Web broswer" delete both cache, and cookies, then restart Steam, and see if things change.

well it happened in both, it happens when in game with the steam overlay and on the desktop. I've restarted my computer the the issue still persists but I'll try and delete the cache and the cookies.

Switch to either one, see if it resolve the issue, if not then can try this, head to where Steam installed, delete everything except for "Steam.exe" file, "Steamapp" folder, and "Userdata" folder once done run "Steam.exe" and see if issue resolved.

FYI I am not using the Beta version of Steam.

Not sure if this fixed my problem but it works fine by itself. It could be an overlay thing. I'll test later

I spoke too soon. OK so it worked fine after I responded here then minimized everything and let my PC go to sleep, came back after work and its lagging again. I noticed the fonts look a little odd so maybe this is a NVIDIA driver issue?

I just switched to beta Steam to see if it resolves the issue.
