Swear words now censored on steam profile?

I don't see why, I don't advertise for children to come to my profile.

edit: I only recently noticed my bio and info box name being censored. At no point in this topic did I correlate what is seen in games to what is able to be used in profiles and I have no idea how that has any relevancy to my topic.

You do not need to 'advertise' for anyone to see your profile.

It is hosted by Steam. Steam's services are available for everyone to view, period. They must comply with regulations - and those regulations also include you following Steam's terms of service, which DO specify that you're not to post offensive things anywhere on their system.

"But this game says x thing! That game has boobies! Why can't I post those!!"

Because games are not your public profile on a public site. The games are owned wholly by their creators, and their contents are regulated in a different way.

Stop putting stuff on your profile that doesn't need to be there.

I understand this but I've had this kinda stuff for the past 6+ years, up until about last week I noticed that it was censored.

This has always been there isn't it ? It will censor swear words on profile comments etc. Did you only find this out now lol ?

You potentially could have been reported and your username and bio changed to randomised numbers, there seems to be no reason behind the removal, just the fact you were reported for inappropriate username. However this has always been a thing so maybe you were recently reported or you started playing a new game which automatically changed your name.

My username didn't contain anything explicit but it is a good idea.
