Is there a way to verify the steam client?
My ISP is suggesting I reinstall steam to fix connectivity issues.

Is there a best way to reinstall?

In other words, your ISP just wanted to tell you something to make you go away. He has no clue what your problem is.

Software doesn't just "break down", and random bit flips aren't all that common either. And if they do happen, they rarely cause specific symptoms like that.

(I'm not saying it's impossible -- "random" is "random". However, "reinstall the software" is a common advice that does nothing because if a software doesn't work, and you install the same software again, it still doesn't work because it's the same thing as before).

Well I figured that but I am down to checking the stupid as I have to wait until Wed for a tech to come out.

Is there an easy way to check the client as you would a game?

And steam sure is acting up today to boot...
Valve recently messed with the Steam servers such that if you reverted the Steam client to an old version it no longer works properly. So that may or may not be part of your issue.

Anyway, if you're looking to reinstall Steam, make sure you back up all your game files first, so you don't have to redownload them but can just re-verify them after reinstalling Steam.

Steam client can't verify my game that I played last night.
Steam can't see the game that is in it's Library and on my pc:ragebs:
only keep steamapps folder(no need again download your games) and reinstall
