Question about visibility
At the top of the Steam interface, if you click on Friends, the menu that comes up has Online, Away, Invisible and Offline at the bottom.

What is the difference between Invisible and Offline? More importantly, what do friends of mine see when I put myself into Invisible or Offline? If I play another game, can my friends see that I am playing a game a game in either of those visibility modes?

INVISIBLE means you only LOOK offline to your friends, but you are still online, can write them and get notifications if someone else writes to you.
OFFLINE is just that, you log out of the Steam chat completely, cant write anyone without login in again and you do not get any notifications from chat.

If you are set to "Invisible" they cant see that you are playing a game, you appear "Offline" on your profile.

also keep in mind when in inv's mode people cant send you game invites so if you want to join someone you need to click join on them.
