Steam Overlay - How Do I Hide Chat?
Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered. When I open steam overlay while in game, using SHIFT+TAB, I am presented with friend chat window and I would like it not to appear. I think I messed with the settings and somehow "undocked". So, is there a way to make it not appear when overlay is opened or hide it altogether?

Thank you.

You could 'sign out' of the chat window. Then it would not pop up again. Also there is a settings icon on the pop up window in which you can access friends list settings, then disable the 'sign in to chat when steam client starts' option by turning it off.

Happy gaming n have a nice day.

You can't.
The new chat is designed to appear every time you start a game if you are logged into friends. You can keep steam friends logged out, or close the window every time you start a game.
