Question about gaming laptop
So I bought a gaming laptop and whenever Im plugged in I get best graphics,60+ fps and whnever not plugged in the graphic goes down and even fps does

I know that laptops are designed this way so that GPU wont eat away the entire battery .

My question is that if my battery is 100% charged and I plug and play for hours will it cause my battery life to diminish or the laptop will start using it as external power source?

My laptop Asus tuf gaming
GTX 1650 4GB RAM,8GB DDR 4 RAM,Ryzen 5-3550H

Care to explain?

Generally once your're plugged into the wall, the battery merely trickle charges. This means that the battery capacity isn't decreasing that much since most of the power is being pulled from the wall AC.

You don't really need to 'manage' batteries like in the old days. The days of "make sure you fully discharge and charge" or other things basically no longer are relevant. In fact fully discharging a battery today is a bad thing. That's why your battery and device actually shut off way before that happens to ensure your battery is not damaged by a full discharge. Use your laptop as you want and the battery and the charger will functionally do things in a way that optimizes the battery's lifespan.

Having your laptop plugged into the wall will make your battery last longer, mostly because the laptop wont use the battery as much. Think of batteries as having a giant capacity of say 10,000% energy. If you take your battery to 50% and then charge to 100%, you functionally decrease the capacity of the battery from %10,000 to %9,950. As you use your battery more, that overall %10,000 goes down until the battery no longer holds a charge. The circuitry inside hte battery and your laptop, controls how your battery charges, and when in order to maximize this %10,000.

Always use a power source when gaming. There are no really good batteries out there, not that can handle the load that a graphics card can use.

The battery should be considered a last resort.

Modern batteries are smart enough to stop charging when they're full. They actually have chips in them that stop the charge.

No keeping your laptop plugged in will not diminish your battery. Gaming laptops are designed to be plugged in for a very long time. I'm usually on my laptop from 6 am until around 3 am and my laptop is always plugged in. Naturally over time your battery will degrade because that is the way batteries are but keeping it plugged in will not necessarily affect the battery life span..

Correct. so usually when they hit in the 90s they only draw enough power to maintain the power required for gaming @Morbid
