Remote play through web browser
Is it currently possible to, or are there any plans to, be able to remotely play steam games on a web browser? A steam link app for a web browser.

I understand that there are steam link apps for mobile devices/tablets and you can download steam onto a second machine and play off the primary machine. My concern are for the machines you are not allowed to, or don't want to, download on (i.e. a borrowed machine, public machine, work machine, etc.).

Any thoughts?

To clarify:
This came up while trying to play jackbox games at someone's house. I own the game on my steam but they don't have steam. I didn't want to download steam on their machines but would have loved to be able to log into steam and remotely play through google chrome.

I understand that.

They must have the Valve mobile app or the Steam client for it to work.

There is no other way.

You can remote download using both.

Seeing how it's possible to play Stadia very well through the browser and Microsoft also has it's XCloud through the browser, it certainly would be possible for Valve to create a SteamLink which would work in a browser (on a device that is capable of also running Stadia/XCloud through the browser). I'm even baffled why Valve still hasn't created it.

Because there is no reason. Just like there was no reason for you to necro this thread.

Except there is a reason, most modern devices support a chromiumbrowser of some sort which are capable of running streamingwebsites, but a lot of devices don't have a SteamLink app.

Rainway[rainway.com] supports Stadia /xCloud style game streaming from your own PC to a web browser without the need for a client app.

I tried it out about 18 months ago and back then it performed significantly worse than Steam remote play, though it has probably improved since then.

The Rainway SDK is actually used by Microsoft[rainway.com] for browser based xCloud

Also Parsec already supports client access via browser, so Valve can implement a Steam Link web browser client as well. I'd like this kind of option mostly because of Remote Play Together, today you can play with any person via Steam Link mobile app without them having a Steam account, something similar for PC without the Steam app would be very nice.

There is no excuse for why steam hasn't implemented a remote play web extension.

Ya that would be cool. Luckily I have the steam deck
