"Allow downloads during gameplay" option doesn't work.

I mean, I guess you could argue that it does work if you turn it on. But you would think that with the option turned off, downloads would not be allowed while you are playing a game. Yet they just happily keep on going as though there was nothing happening and then briefly disrupt the game as it lags when finished(not sure if turning off notifications about it would help or not).

I was pretty sure this had happened before but today it was confirmed. Started a download, started a game a couple minutes later, 20 minutes later the game stuttered and "download completed" showed up. I don't know if it works correctly for automatically queued stuff and it's only broken for manually selected downloads but it should probably do what it says or be changed to say what it does. Preferably the former.

For now I will try turning it on, restarting steam, and turning it back off and see if next time it works properly.

They did eventually fix the screenshot uploader not automatically opening even when you told it to that broke when they changed AI. I wonder if this broke at the same time, but hasn't been fixed yet?

If there's an actual tech support/bug forum I guess I don't know where it is since this would belong there.

This is true and I did forget to check before, but despite never having changed it I have confirmed that it is set correctly as well(Follow global setting - and the global setting displays correctly there).

then downloads will stop as soon as Steam detects you're playing a game. if it's a game with a launcher or something that stops showing you're playing after it launches then nothing can be done.

That would be nice, and is what I'm asking for. :)


Edit: I wonder if part of what's happening may be it getting confused by alt-tabbing out of the game. It appeared to pause the scheduled downloads today, but resumed when I flipped to steam client and browsed my hard drive for some files I needed, then continued downloading after going back to the game.
