Steam Popup windows empty, menus not working tray icon context menu missing
I've started having a weird problem with Steam on one of my machines and I now can't log in. I started noticing that the context menu for the tray icon wouldn't come up when right clicking on it. I was trying to change a launch option so the next thing I noticed is that pop up windows appear as empty rectangles. I've tried installing steam over the top of the old install but now I have to log in. I can't do this as the log in window is now also just an empty rectangle.

Does anyone have any ideas? It started today after a RAM upgrade, thanks.

Seems to have been a scaling issue. Even though I followed a forum thread where people were turning off scaling on an app basis, even though I've never had this problem, it went away when I changed from 125 to 100% at the system level. Didn't even know it was set like that.

Thanks for your help!
Thanks for posting your solution! I had the exact same problem when I tried to login to steam this am. I tried all the recommended fixes: temp disabling antivirus, made sure compatibility mode off, reinstalling steam, reinstalling steam fonts to windows, and more - restarting pc in between each change. Nothing.

Then I found your message. I was pretty sure that I had text scaling at 100% but a few months back I had tried it at 125%, so I checked. It was at 100%. But I decided to try something. I changed it to 125% and clicked apply. I changed it back to 100% and clicked apply. Then I restarted the pc and it worked.

I'm not sure why, but it has something to do with scaling and it makes sense that if you were trying to force in a font too large for the space that it might not even try to display the text. Thanks again - it was driving me crazy.
