why are 70% of steam games budget hentai novels and crappy mobile games?
Why does steam allow crappy games that are not hardly even a game to float around and take advantage of their service. If anything this "fluff" only serves as just that and can almost be ruled as low end smut. If this isn't bad enough simply putting "ignore" for the title doesn't work. I do want exposure to M rated games and sure some sexual content is sometimes present in those games, look at God Of War as an example of a game with a lot of sexual content however is still a "game". Besides I am an adult and I don't want to be flooded with porn everytime I go to an R rated film. However that is exactly what happens when ever I start a new discovery que. At least when it regards the amount of crap steam pushes down your throat Epic games is ahead of the curve and that is saying a lot for the most hated game host currently on the market. Get it together steam if i wanted to spend money to see titties I would do so in real life.

Don`t like it, don`t buy it, but you don`t decide what other people like and what not.
sure but there is a place for that kinda crap and when I select "ignore" and "ignore by default" those buttons should work. Your arguement is exactly mine. I dont want steam telling me what to be interested in even after I state i am not.
Games tagged "visual novel", "anime"... take up less than 10% of the store. Do some basic math and you'll see.
I don't know whether your 70% are correct, but I don't care. If, out of the thousands of games on Steam, 70% are visual novels and mobile ports, it just means that I don't have to look at 70% of the games, making life much easier for me.
i wasnt only regarding those. They are just one of the more prevalent examples. Obviously your missing the point. Sin VR is another good example so are the hentai puzzles. However I didnt feel like going that deep into examples cause I hoped the people reading this had the ability to read between the lines.

and yes 70% was a shot in the dark and I obviously dont truly believe a literal 70% of the games is this way but easily 70% of the new games in my que this week have been. And that isnt the point either. I hit ignore by default I hit ignore I hit ignore similar and I still get these in my que. That is an issue on steams end. Steam also chose to allow their que system to run this way they made the "ignore" feature, so why does it continue to show me ♥♥♥♥ I have ignored. If anything why do I have to confirm my age to see ♥♥♥♥ like call of duty but I dont to download vr porn?

In that case, manually ignoring is your only option. I don't like these lewd puzzle games myself, since they make my search for visual novels with actually good writing and tasteful adult content (stuff like "A summer's end - Hong Kong 1986", "The language of love" and "Kindred spirits on the roof") more difficult than it should be. You just need to deal with the fact that there are people out there who like what you don't.
Yeah your probably right about having to manually ignore them it just sucks. I wish I could just ignore specific tags.

Be guided by bundles from other sites.

Keep a regular eye on Humble (not so much now), Fanatical and Indiegala and Epic/Origin/Uplay to get a good deal.

Do your research and buy what you think is worth it.

Hentai is easily ignored, you just have to be careful with the mobile games, but that is where research comes in.

Why would any gamer use the discovery queue in Steam? Steam is a key redemption site you have bought from other sites.

That thing exists for ages. Go to your profile preferences https://store.steampowered.com/account/preferences/ , there you can not include a lot of stuff and up to 10 tags. Same with Discovery Queue.

Someone is angry.

When steam was heavily curated. Devs & others whined how it's hard to get into steam. When steam removed curation we have the same groups whining how steam has no curation.

Sigh......................................

When EGS has say like around 1000 titles. The store will face more problems like discoverability and many others. EGS has it easy for now. Just wait and watch. The pain is yet to come for them.

The first 3rd-Party game on Steam:

'Nuff Said.. Steam has Curation. But people whose tastes aren't being specifically curated for will always complain that there is no curation, or there's too much curation.

The bottom line uis. There are games, and people buy the games they like. Devs make the games people like to buy. I always find it funny that I who actually seek out and purchase VNs and occasional Hentai games..do not see the deluge of such titles people liek the OP are complaining about.. Not on the store page, not on the discovery Queue. No where. I kinda wonder what sort of searches the OP is doing to produce such very specific results.

Assuming the OP is being honest at all.
Steam does not push to your throat games, by clicking discovery queue, you are commiting a decision that you want to discover new games and if you don't specify with tags what you don't like, you get what you are asking for.

If we are discussing also about problem that many mainly non-erotic games with sexual content gets that label, then I propose a suggestion:

Let's add a percent of tag, which shows what percentage of that characteristics is in the game, not sure if I'm being clear so I will give an example:

Typical budget erotic game would have tag sexual content with small bar on top or bottom which would be filled to certain extent, this extent would be definied by percent of content of that type.

Then, we could add an option to select percentage of tag we would like to see in discovery queue, for example you choose that you want to see only games with below 70% sexual content tag.

This system has a lot of flaws obviously but it's just a suggestion.
Cause Valve accepts ANYTHING on their store and don’t care
