XBOX ONE CONTROLLER NOT WORKING ON BO2 AND ROCKET LEAGUE

I just bought BO2 yesterday. I used to play it a lot on my console, but all my friends got it on PC. I was trying to use my controller to emulate playing on console, because that is what feels most natural, and the game would not even recognize my controller. Steam recognizes the controller, I can configure the controls in the controller configuration menu, but when I go into the game, my controller does nothing. Can anyone tell me why this is and possibly help me get a solution? I use a Microsoft Xbox one controller. I connect it with a micro USB cable to my keyboard. My controller has also stopped working for my favorite, controller-used game, Rocket League. Now, the button and back button don't work. I have no idea why because the controls in the configurator are what I want.

Connect the XBox controller directly to your PC. Do not use the USB hub of your keyboard.

Do you mean not use the usb port on my keyboard and use the usb port on my pc? doesn't that do the same thing?

Edit: I can confirm that is does do the same thing. My a and b button are still not working and I have plugged my usb cable into the top of my pc.

I went onto the microsoft website and reinstalled the xbox one controller drivers. I also ran my game in big picture mode. It now works in rocket league. It might help to have your controller options forced on. I do that and it works. That is below the controller configuration tab when you click manage game in big picture mode.

it also works for bo2. use big picture mode or itll just not work.

Game controllers should be removed total from game titles like CS:GO, Ark, Rdr2 and more when the game is launched from a pc

The reason for that is that you can buy gamecontrollers with build in hardware aim and shooting mods ..

If not .. then atleast give the pc users the option to opt out to play against game controllers / consoles !
