I need help freeing space.
So I just got Arc Survival, and right after I finish buying it, it decides to tell me I don't have space on my computer. So thanks Steam for having me by a $50 dollar game and then tell me that I wasted it. So I have a lot of random free games, and I was wondering how to permanently delete them. I was also wondering if deleting them will free up space, and if not, if there are any other ways to free up space.

Right click any game to uninstall, in your Library chose Manage then Uninstall.

That doesn't permanently delete the game, it just uninstalls it.

correct. what you want to do is UNINSTALL games, this deletes them from the hard drive. if you ever want to play that game again, you install it and you can play it again.

you appear to not understand what delete and uninstall mean. permanent delete would be a full nuking of the game FROM THE ACCOUNT requiring you to rebuy the game if you want to play it again.

If you don't know what permanent is, look it up.

Permanently deleting a game from your account will NOT free up more space than UNINSTALLING the game from your computer.

If a game is UNINSTALLED then you have freed up basically all the space you can.

Permanently deleting a game from your Steam account does NOT free up additional space on your own personal hard drive.

That is where you are having space issues. Your computer hard drive is too full. You must delete things from your computer so you have space to install your new game.

Do you know how large your computer hard drive is??

Open the Explorer and check and the hard drive(s) you have, how much is left on it or them?

I'd try to give the OP the benefit of a doubt...some people aren't as knowledgeable when it comes to technology.

To the OP...to put it simply, games being in your Steam account are NOT taking up space on your computer's harddrive. If they are not installed, they are not taking up any space. They only take up space if they are installed. They are tied to your account so you can re-install them whenever you want.

With that said, like someone else already said, you need to free up space by removing other things from your drive. Other games that ARE installed can be uninstalled if you don't plan on playing them anymore, or any other programs you aren't using as well as large files.
