tax forms?
Years ago Steam began asking for people to verify their accounts after reaching X number of trades/transactions. The justification was for local tax purposes. Presumably this had to do with the US state of Washington where Valve is headquartered. Does Steam/Valve furnish tax documents for marketplace traders?

This past year I sold >$100 in CS:GO weapon skins and items for example. The currency is digital and AFAIK can't be converted in recognized currencies. If a government entity cared to know about these marketplace transactions, what tax forms would be required?

Those forms were required by the US Internal Revenue Service.

Anyone outside the US was only required to say they were not in the US.

Tax info was scrapped for the Market.

Will you be asking me to provide tax information to you, and/or will you be providing 1099’s based on my transactions in the Community Market?

Previously we required that U.S. citizens and residents provide us with certain information, including name, address and social security number, prior to exceeding 200 separate sales transactions in a calendar year. We have concluded that this information is not required and we will no longer be asking you for this information as part of Community Market participation. We will also not be providing IRS Form 1099’s with respect to sales activity in the Community Market.
