games show up on Google search, but not Steam store search
If I Google a game that's on Steam, the in-browser Steam store will give me a link which opens the Steam app to the game. If I search for the game directly from the Steam app, many times it will not show up in search results. My search filters don't exclude anything. (I live in the USA, fyi) This is frustrating because although I can find a game through Google, if I'm simply browsing the store, what else am I not seeing? Would love to hear this is just something I'm doing wrong, and how to fix it. :)

NOTE: I don't use the in-browser Steam store (as opposed to the desktop app) for searching, that's just where Googled links take me.

What game? Have an example?

DC Universe Online, there's plenty of others. I can find it using Google, and I just downloaded it from Steam, but typing "DC Universe Online" into the Steam store search WAS giving me nothing. Now that I've downloaded it, it DOES show up in a store search, but that's really not all that helpful. :/ "Browse these games you already own."

Merely typing DC in the search bar already shows it in the suggestions for me.

This happened to me with Genital Jousting recently. I haven't excluded it but I was unable to find it to buy it without opening an incognito window and copying the URL to my Steam account. The non-web Steam version refused to show me the game at all, and I could only find it by being in a Chrome version of the Steam store.

Crazy Tiger - What the heck am I doing wrong? XD This is really not the only game it's happened with. Yes, I can find any game I'm looking for through Google, but it seems odd that I would have difficulties searching for it in the Steam store using the app. :/

Steam's built-in browser (which is crap and shouldn't be used anyway) has a setting that signs you into your Steam account automatically. This means loading your preferences: https://store.steampowered.com/account/preferences

Incognito ignores your cookies and thereby allows you to view Steam outside of your account, thereby bypassing your preferences settings.

I'm pretty sure you have something in your preferences that prevents you from seeing Genital Jousting.

Also, ARE you searching in the store -- maybe you're using the search box on your library?

Steam tells you when something's filtered out. Make sure you use the actual search results page and not the flyout.
Actually Steam regionally locks games and that's why you can't see them.
DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme Venus Vacation - for example.
Shows up on every google search on steam and also on the steam store when you're not logged in on the website. As soon as you login - error: page does not exist. Because the game is locked for your region.

Like for example the game does not show up on UK Steam Page at all. Or on any UK based account type. Like that stopped ever anybody from creating another account with a different region LOL.

Incredibly dumb region locks. Don't even work for nuffin <_<

The game is free to play too! Which is even worse when u think about it.

After I downloaded it, it shows up. Before, it just showed games that started with however much I typed in: D got a list of games starting with D, DC got a list of games starting with DC, etc. But DC Universe Online was NOT in the search results prior to me downloading it. As I said, this is really not the only game this has happened with: I can find it in the web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc) but not in the Steam app store.

It's not a big deal from that angle, since I can actually find the games using my browser, I was just curious if the Steam app might be excluding other games when I browse the library using the optional filter check-offs (FPS, MMO, etc). Obviously, I can search the store in the browser, I just wondered if I was doing anything wrong with the app. I have nothing filtered out: I can skip over a game with nudity, etc if that doesn't interest me, I don't need a "Steam nanny." :)

Actually, I'm tired of following this discussion. It's broken and I have an alternative, so. Thank you all for your input! :)

Good check! Yes, I am searching the store and not my library. :)
