sketchy friend requests?
I keep getting friend requests from randoms with links in their steam that only seem like scams or keyloggers. Most offer free games but they only own 1 game. Some that add me have not played a steam game for 5+ years. I decline all of them but it's getting annoying and I'm wondering if I'm the only one. Also some one with steam level bots somehow appeared on my friends list that I never accepted.

That tells you straight away that they are attempting to scam you by persuasion of following the links they posted.

Best to report them, block them and move on.

Those that have appeared already on your list don't appear just like that but are accounts that used to belong to your friends.

I hide my friends list now because it's getting out of hand. I don't want them adding them and trying to scam them.

Might try making your inventory private, if they can't see what you have might not bother trying to scam you for your items.

It isn't your fault but your friends who are likely to be fooled into such common scam and phishing techniques.

Best thing is you worry about your own account and do whatever it takes to protect it while you could raise awareness and keep your friends wide awake.

Malicious actors can be from anywhere, no matter where they are from.. The best solution is to ignore them and follow this documentation if you so choose to. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1927-RTSV-6909
Report and block. :)

Only accept friend requests from people you know. Stranger danger, and all that.

I have the same problem, it's worse when they come back with alternate accounts.
Especially when they all have the same name and you find out that there's 800 pages of them!

I dont trade and never will so I dont care who sees my inventory. Also I dont click links unless they are friends on steam 90% of my steam friends I've played with over 10 years.
