How do people have so many games?
Wondering about it for some time, often I see players with 100+ games, even reaching 1000. How is that possible? Also got some questions for this:

1. Do you play the games you have?
2. How long does it take to achieve such number?
3. Are they/most of them free?

And do you uninstall these games or just keep em on the computer? It would be kinda crazy to have downloaded 1000+ games and never delete them... rip disk space :’D

Just curious.

alot of people get every free game out and of course their not installed. In my case I do have a bunch of games I haven't played and only bought them because of sales.

I have nearly 3000 games, some were cheap greenlight bundles that no longer exist, some were humble bundles that had up to 10 games for ~$12. There are legit sites like fanatical, indie gala, and groupees selling bundles of games for under $5 at some times. Steam has sales and some publishers sell bundles on Steam during the holiday sale.

I purchased a bundle with Stardew Valley for $12 and played it over 100 hours, that made the bundle worth it as the game was never discounted that much at the time, let alone with 6 or 7 other games. There have been other bundles I purchased where I played a long time on 1 or 2 games paying less for the bundle than for the 1 game even when it was on sale.

There are people who collect games, people who buy cheap games, there are many reasons to have a lot of games. They may not always make sense to anyone other than the person making the decision.

I've been a Steam member for nearly 11 years.

I got almost all of them from free Giveaways.
Rest of them I bought in bundles and usually when they're around 75-90% discounted.

Took me around 2.5 years to get to this number.

And of course I don't play them all.
Most of them are crappy games and asset flips.
I played about 150 of them.
I currently have installed 308 games on my PC (3TB HDD)
I have about 400 games on my account that are worth playing. Rest of them is pure crap.

we buy them.

i'm at almost 6500 now and to your questions, i have like 3500 unplayed, i think. i don't think i will ever play them all.

and i'm not sure, i think it took me 3 years or so, ( had steam before but i didn't really buy games. )

Sales.

And this is only on Steam... never mind the other 7 platforms i use...
Also never mind the 1500 or so physical games i have for all my consoles and other gaming devices.
lot's of my game came from humble bundles.
Oh I see, seems legit! Thank you for patience.

oh and i just checked out of curiosity (on mysteamgauge.com),

if i wanted to install all my games at once, it would require 10545.5 GB :starhappy: .

since i only have 2x 512GB space on my ssds, i guess i'll pass on that.

Just curious.

1. Personally I always have the intention of playing the games I buy. Although it's amazing how tempting a game you might not have cared about at $49 is when it's $4.99. Sure you might not play it right then, but once you're done with your current game sure why not? Oh wait some other game you kinda wanted is on sale too, and another and another. Oh look it's 6 months later and it's the summer sale, and some other game you want now is on sale for 75% off, sure you haven't played most of those other games, but...

2. Highly variable. But time + a few dollars here or there every sale for a decade, or more, can equal a lot of games.

3. No, but a lot of them are extremely cheap a game that's a couple of years old that's on sale for $5, There's probably 100 games you'd buy right now if they were $5. Now imagine many of them are on sale every couple of months. And if it's a totally new concept you might go a little crazy. And if you don't have any impulse control you're going to go a little crazy every sale. And if you have enough disposable income (or are just abd with budgeting) you're going to be able to justify spending $5, $20, $50 on a least a couple of sales.

I did the humble monthly bundle a couple of times. That's like 25 games over 3 months for $36... there's all sorts of ways they can pile up.

4. Well why would you have to download them all and never delete them? You can always redownload a game later and you're not required to install everything immediately.

Where do you guys store so many games? You must have huge drives. Servers maybe?
I have to uninstall mine even with a 1 TB drive.

I filled up my 240GB SSD and 3TB HDD and still haven't installed all games I wanted.

Buy them, it's not hard. Most people haven't played most of the games they own.

You could get well over 1000 in a year just off of bundles and back in the day the publisher packs during the Steam sales.

I'm a little over 9k, would be impossible to install them all since most games now are like 50-100GB

1. Yes, but slowly.

2. I say about several years for my 2.5k+ Library. Been using Steam for 11 years.

3. It vary between each person, I gotten at least 400 games free over few years, some of them are great quality games on Steam. I recommend keeping an eye on here, if you see a game you want worth to go after.
