Steam Download (not install) location
Hi all,
I have several steam libraries split across a couple of hard drives, and I've noticed that Steam seems to be downloading things to one drive (A:\), then moving them to their actual install location (usually C:\). This slows things down a lot since A:\ is a slot HDD intended for stuff I don't play often but want to keep downloaded, and C:\ is a fast SSD (and is set as my default library).

Why did Steam decide to download games to A:\? Is there some sensible way of changing this location?

Delete downloading folder on A:
open cmd and type
mklink /J "A:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\downloading" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading"

It auto DLs to the other drive when there is not enough space on the drive the game is on to perform the uncompress and install of said update. That's why.

That's how it should work. But Steam is weird and doesn't always do what it should (speaking from experience).

But it apparently does for the OP.

You're the exception.
