How Do I Get Into Different Game Genres?
So basically, I grew up playing Call of Duty and only Call of Duty, meaning I haven’t played any other game that isn’t FPS. Now I want to explore and try different type of games, but I don’t feel satisfied and find any other game that isn’t an FPS really boring. So, I guess I’m asking is how do I get into different games? Because I want to try something new, but it doesn’t feel right, anything I try I dislike.

So, you want something other than an FPS shooter?

How about a co-op FPS shooter? (Left 4 Dead 2, Killing Floor 2)

FPS Survival / Crafting? (Seven Days to Die, The Forest)

First Person Puzzle Games?

If you start with first person stuff in different genres that might help.

What kind of stuff are you into? Theres a game for almost anything at this point.

Boxing?
Cricket?
City / Builders in general?

Games are entertainment. If you don't like other games, don't play them. Nothing forces you to.

I used to watch walkthrough videos to see if I'd like them.

Someone mentioned the discovery queue, go through them, if you find a game you like look up the walkthroughs.
Well, maybe instead of trying to find games that you naturally dislike, it's better to go back in time and find classic FPS games that you haven't played. As generic FPS games tend to be these days, the genre has a very long history with a lot of interesting milestones.

IDK, play first-person games but in different genres? Like, Deus Ex for example...yeah, it's got shooting, but it's more of an RPG than your typical action game (especially the later games where shooting is completely optional if you wanna go full Batman :P). Or the Far Cry series, one of my personal favorite shooter series. I mean, it's clear you only like a particular type of game...which isn't bad. Just stick to games set in first person and slowly broaden your tastes. Or better yet...since this is Steam, the holy grail of FPS, Half-Life.

If you're going to try new genres just try new genres, take a dive . You're into FPS.. try a turn based tactical combat game., or a management sim.
