Daggerfall
I know a lot of you probably have never heard of this title, but let me fill you in. Daggerfall was the second Elder Scrolls game to ever come out. It was a massive success and came out in 1996. I think that's when it came out. The game allowed the player to be one of multiple races in a fantasy world of magic and swords. It was a massive RPG with a map the size of England. The game is now free to play if you can find and download a copy. However, I was wondering why Steam doesn't add it and the original, Arena, to the store. For free though.

the game developer/publisher is the one that has to add it to the steam store. they decide what will be on steam, the price, if it will be on sale, if there will be trading cards, emotes, backgrounds, etc.

bethesda has its own launcher and store now. so dont expect them to add anything to steam.

It's up to the publishers to do that.

Its available through GOG if you buy one of their games on that site. Its DRM Free only though.

You don't have to use Galaxy on GOG. You can download the game, burn it to a DVD or store it on a hard drive and install/play it all you want.

Actually, its a free download. Just search Daggerfall Download or Arena Download for the two games. Then just download the game after locating it. Discs aren't even needed. Unless you want to be able to switch it between computers.

Wait what?

You can get both "Elder Scrolls Arena" and "Elder Scrolls II : Daggerfall" via Bethesda's website for free last I checked. Granted, they require DOSBox or some other emulation software to run well, as both games were made for 90s PCs and hardware of that era.

If you're willing to wait, there's also a Daggerfall Unity project that seeks to update Daggerfall in the Unity Game Engine, progress will probably be slow just like all big mods these days but it's worth to note it's existence for those who are interested in it.

Already have the game. Still on freaking level one. Didn't know that mods existed in it though.

I came to Steam to get rid of storing games locally and DVDs, ugh.

You can download it then add it to the Steam client/launcher as a non-Steam game. And if your Steam games aren't stored locally then where are they stormed? On your computer/hard drive, right? Which would be "locally."

You have to send command line options for dosbox.

How would one do that? I've only been able to do it via the actual application bar.

As I've already stated, I have a copy of the game. I posted this seeing if anyone else thought it should be put on Steam so that other players could find, play, and expand on the community.

I haven't done a lot of digging around dosbox games lately but I think these links may be of some use to you.
