Not available in your region

Hello. I ran into a problem. I bought the key on a third-party site and activated it on Steam (this is a normal procedure and I have done this more than once).

I went abroad for several months and now my game does not start. I get an error stating that it is not available for my region. What should I do? I bought a game, it is installed, but I can’t play. In my opinion this is a problem on the part of Steam.

I am not very good at all of this. Therefore, my friend advised me to install a VPN application and enable it before starting the game. I don’t know for sure whether this can be done, but I tried it and chose my country and my game started. Is this really the way to solve this problem? Why can't Steam make the game launch easier, without VPN enabled?

What do you have in mind? Why exactly 3 months?
Maybe I will be abroad for another six months, so I want to play right now.

Some game keys are restricted to certain regions, usually due to regional pricing.

Using a VPN to circumvent this restitution can lead to your account being restricted or terminated. (As stated in the SSA)

I would recommend against using a VPN this way.

You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account.

Ok, I get it. I have no malice. I bought keys on third-party sites before and I know for sure that this is allowed.
In addition, I bought this key in my country.
But what about people like me who just want to play games on vacation. Don't you think this is strange? The game is installed on my computer and I can not start it just because I took my laptop abroad.

Mine all worked fine when I went on vacation last year. But I also never changed any settings.

Publishers choose which markets they will sell their products on. Not steam.

Wrong, publisher put in the regional restrictions.

Steam is also not a monopoly, but many people seem to not know what a monopoly actually is.

Ok, maybe you are right. But Steam is monopoly 100%, just think about Epic games. How the whatever game can cost f.e. 30$ and 0$ ?? Steam just keeps the bar unreasonably high, imho
