there is a way to recover the account, and it works. but people do stupid things, so it takes longer to recover the account.
you dont need your email to recover it. you only need to be able to tell steam what the original email address was for the account. this is something only you should know. steam asks for stuff that only the original account owner should know.
3rd Party sites, scams from bots, random accounts, etc.
Sure there is. Presenting steam support with the correct information is all that's usually required.
And the best way to not have to deal with this at all, is for people to stop being so gullible, greedy, or foolish in their browsing.
Definitely. Years ago I got my account hijacked by someone that also hijacked my e-mail. Steam was very efficient in getting it back for me when I provided my purchase history. When there's proof, there's a way.
And how do you verify that the person submitting the id is the owner of said ID. ANyone can snap a picture of a driver's license passport.
And something has to go spectacyularly wrong for that to happen.. BUIt you also have the option of linking the phone number
As said, since you can't verify who is presenting the ID... yeah this sort of thing falls flaty. Never mind that Valve would need access to the government databases to verify any of it which many, many governments are not gonna allow.
Look. At somepoint, it boils down rto users not being IDOTS .
Security/protection will always remain useless when people are idiots and give away their credentials. There is only so much that Valve can do.
There comes a point that people simply have to take responsibility for their own actions.
