If you are on the correct account, you should have gotten an email saying so.

what specifically happens?

Are you on the correct account with the right games and the right amount of games? Check your purchase history in the account you're on right now. How are you posting on steam right now? IN a browser or on the client? is this the account you're talking about? (if so, why is this an issue? how else did you get on to post?)

If you are concerned about your account security think about whether you've EVER linked your steam login ANYWHERE that isn't steam, or looked like steam but was for a 'product' or 'event' - those are scams. All off-site log ins should never be your steam one, because that's how accounts get stolen.

Not all the info below may apply to you, but be sure to follow all the steps as they're important to account security.

*****
Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Change your password on a secure device.

Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
** If there is nothing in the API key area, that’s fine. If there IS something, remove it. Nothing should be there.**

No items that have been traded away during this time will be returned to you.

Change your Email’s password on your computer for safety

Hopefully you're just on the wrong account. A LOT of people who don't think they have more than one Steam account usually wind up having created one long ago or for a specific game by mistake. That's why you should check your purchase history to make sure that you are on the correct one.

yes this is the account that password suddenly changed. i got back the acc by changing the password. i was confused about what happened. if my acc got hacked i wouldn't be able to change the password because hacker would change the email. i'm also sure i typed the right username and password. i was wondering whether this happened to someoneelse too. how do i check the devices logged in to my steam acc?

Then make sure that you've gone through the process I showed above. You likely handed out your security information somewhere you shouldn't have, even if you didn't realize it.

There are no "hackers" on steam. there are, however, scammers who will phish your information from you in many different ways including having websites that LOOK like steam, but are not. If you do ANY off-steam trading, or have ever traded anything 'for promises' on another location, that's where you gave out your info. Make sure you don't use off-steam trading in any way.

I'd still scan the computer, www.malwarebytes.com.

I say that because there could be something new and while we might now know about it, some scanner that might have some other information may know of, or know some aspect of, some malware that's going around. May find nothing but better to make sure than think everything is fine and it was something else going on that none of us knew about.

Just a suggestion.

Good and hope cleaning them off helped.

You may want to try some other products that clean up other issues on your computer. I'd recommend some but prefer we friend to do so, just to not promote products on Steam that they may not want me to.

I've seen others promote malwarebytes to help with this kind of situation so I was comfortable doing that. Up to you and glad to help.

Edit: Also I'd suggest running another scan later today and also another tomorrow. Not knowing how and what all is involved yet entirely some of this stuff may come back, and it may be because you're visiting a website regularly that you don't know (and the website owner may not know) is compromised, even though these are PUPs they aren't some secret from those who are far more nefarious and so they can be a ruse or means for causing more heinous damage. So be diligent scanning a few more times for a few days just to make sure you can have as much info as possible to solve this permanently. It may be already but it also may not.
