Contour mods (Bulletstorm enabled ammo bag contour, Uppers enabled FAK contour, customizable contours) - As we can't have HUD mods, I found the only way to get some extra information in the game is the contour mods. I chaged the civilians from red to yellow, if they are detected by Sixth Sense skill or Spycams. It doesn't help much, but still something.
The Fixes - it fixes various bugs. You can live without it, but it's nice.
And I think that's all I have installed.
One important thing is that Overkill finally fixed the melee crash bug, we no longer make desktop players crash when we grab our melee weapon. Hack away at cops or civvies as you like! (It's still pretty useless with the -90% damage debuff after the first strike, totally negates and overrides the bonuses from Sociopath)
I personally don't use the improvements mod since I can live without smooth turning and I can snap turn just normally in both directions.
And there is indeed a HUD that works in VR, which is BangHUD. Armour and HP status bars near your center view. It shows you in how many seconds your armour regeneration begins and even takes the frenzy skill into consideration and readjusts the health bar then if you want (the skill that takes away 70% of your health permanently).
Of course I can't be absolutely sure about bugs regarding Payday 2.
I know this:
https://steamcommunity.com/games/218620/announcements/detail/1721994678824562760
"Fixed a crash that could occur if a player would switch to melee while reloading and having arm animations enabled"
I think that was it. I may be mistaken, but has all the hallmarks, VR, melee, arm animation enabled, crash.
I just started using melee heavily, and it worked fine as far as I can tell. I'm pretty sure I grabbed my katana while the manual reload was blnking a lot of times.
How can you turn left while moving in vanilla? Maybe it's only a problem with the Rift controllers, though. And I mean it DOES work, but you physically can't press a button with your thumb when your thumb is on the joystick, controlling movement,
Thanks for the info on that HUD. I have some DSOD loud maps still to do, it may help with those. But it sounds really distracting and immersion breaking for normal playing.
I'm using the Index and I move/strafe with my left controller while I snap turn left or right with my right controller.
Do you really play DS in VR? Everything Mayhem or higher is just pure stress for me so I mostly stay in OK.
I'm good up to DW. Dodge works extremely well with VR, and the already overpowered autoshotguns without their stability stat are insanely powerful. DW needs some effort, but it's still doable.
I play DSOD only for the achievements. I try it very rarely, and I get frustrated quickly. But I did manage to do some. There's a huge difficulty difference between DW and DS, it's not easy to adjust, and it's not exaclty fun to play DS...
I got my DSOD mask, all of it in VR. It IS playable, and it's a completely different game. From a horde shooter, it transforms to a highly strategic tactical shooter. You are no longer allowed to stand in the open and just mow down waves of cops effortlessly. You have to find the few defendable positions on the map, bunker in, and plan every move to go out. It took me a long time to get the hang of it. It is hard, harder than anything I played in VR. But it can be done.
I am also down to two achievements, both four-man, and I will do it in a few days.
There were some achievements I had problem with, and I was either carried, or I did it on desktop.
Pinpoint Landing - This had to be done on desktop, as it's a personal achievement, cannot be circumvented, and we can't control the parachute in VR.
Expert Landing - On the other hand, we could do it by me going into custody on the plane, and traded on the roof
Bunnyhopping - Due to head collison issues, it cannot be done in VR. We simply can't jump that many times. On desktop, it's done by bumping our heads into a doorframe, it's not fast enough in VR.
Hot Lava 2.0 and Caution Wet Floor - I was carried on both, I didn't do the parkour. When I was "practicing", I fell off after two jumps. Technically may be possible, but I refuse to lose my sanity trying it.
Human Sentry Gun - Impossible, no bipod in VR.
I still have a few safehouse trophies to do, and of course Robbedacop, I'm around 310,000 kills of the ~650,000, in ~20 months.
And that's about it. Apart from these, all of Payday can be done in VR. Technically I did around 100 low level achievements on desktop, but those work in VR too for sure.
