the call me profit
The Origin platform doesn't have a complete library of older games of theirs, GOG doesn't have anything on Mass Effect or The Sims 3 for example, so it's unlikely they have much in the way of EA products.
Looks like EA wants to try get greedy knowing some of these games from the past can be gotten on Steam and only on Steam.
Origin has a bunch of old games. Even the ones that ran on DOS. What's it missing that's only on steam?
It's all marketing. As long as they can keep you (the gamer) talking and writing about it here, they reach that goal of making you advertise it for them for free.
It doesn't matter if what you say is negative or positive.
They want you to name their brand, tell others about it (brand awareness), and they are successful in making you do that, as exhibited here. You're doing exactly what they want you to do.
Oh? Well go look then and tell me they got every one of their older games as far back as the late 90's on their origin platform. i know for sure some games in some of their series are missing.
Ether way this really sucks for customers, and I am here wondering who is protecting us from such practice.

Nah, the games already had regional pricing. And the new prices are very inconsistent.
Some prices are now double what they were before, others cut to half, and both in the same region.
There does not seem much rhyme or reason to it.
Also ORIGIN has regional pricing too and these new Steam prices are ALL higher then what you would pay on ORIGIN.
Of course EA wants users to buy on their own platform but its still a bit shady.
OP if they were price matching, then clearly you fail to read the blog...
They're not price matching, they're rising the prices.... As in They're Charging more on Steam than on Origin as it's cheaper for everyone for the full price tag on Origin ATM, hence not price matching.
Also publishers, and devs are free to change their prices of their games whenever they please, may it be on Steam, Gog, Epic, Origin, Uplay, Xbox, PSN, Nintendo, and etc ...
