Screenshots GONE!!! Please help

Just today I have had a friend approach me to find old screenshots of a game we played and while searching for them I found that all of my screen shots were gone. The only screen shots I have are the ones I took just of recent. Can I get any of my screenshots back, I have MANY MANY memories and just beautiful pictures in general. Please tell me if there is anything that can be done.

Are you looking on your hard drive? because if you took them, they'll definitely be there unless and until you delete them.

if you're talking about JUST on your steam cloud? Yeah that will happen. Don't rely on other people's computers (the cloud) for your safe stuff.

Steam / userdata / your number / 760 / remote / game ID / screenshots will be in one of these folders for that game.

They know how to take screenshots. Their screenshots have gone missing.

This has come up before recently, that people with lots and lots of screenshots stored on Steam find some of them gone. I do not remember what the outcome has been for those who had this happen though. My solution is to never trust the cloud...

It does. Unless you've uploaded them before uninstalling.

I see. That was my fault then, I thought steam kept them somehwere or something. I know it now thank you.

If reinstalling Steam or whatever, copy or save the Steamapps folder, config.vdf and the userdata folder. Userdata is where the screenshots are saved.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it a while ago, I had to reformat my computer and in my mind steam saved the screenshots. I have nothing to copy anymore since its all gone. But im going to start saving my screenshots somewere Im aware they are at.

Tip: Don't uninstall. Really don't. If you need to refresh Steam for some reason, delete everything in the Steam folder except Steam.exe, SteamApps & UserData. Doubleclick that Steam.exe afterwards.

There is a bug at the moment regarding uploaded screenshots (At least for me).

Pressing the screenshot library shows first no screenshots at all, and i have 10k+.
Go back a page and retry, usally it then loads the first page and it display the latest screenshots and showing how many sides of screenshots i have.
Press a later page it shows the default page how to save screenshots and whatnot, go back a page, return press the same page number and it shows, and so on.

Mine is all there but is a hassel if i choose to look at the older ones.

This might not be the same problem, if so i apologice.

Yeah that's why reformatting or reinstalling anything should be the very last resort and only after you've exhausted all data copying and backing up. :( I'm sorry that you've lost your screenies, that would be devastating.

Do you have maybe any sent in old emails or shared online?

Necroposting on this just so that Valve can see while locking the topic and fix this.

Fix the cloud servers, please? Screenshots uplodaded to it are just dissapearing randomly everytime Steam client updates.
