The issue with this is, and, despite quoting your reply, I don't want you to feel I'm unloading on you for trying to help, but rather I'm hoping to raise the issue for discussion amongst the community in general, I'll have to do this for each game individually including all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ promotions and I cba faffing around with such a horrendous waste of time.
In short - ♥♥♥♥ this facebook timeline ♥♥♥♥ where Janice from marketing decides what I get to look at. - this is not how you go about facing down competing download services.
... and in my case that's not a "may" - if I do it the way the app wants I have to do that for every item in my library and the promotions. I want an option to turn it all off once.
Again, I repeat, unless you were involved in designing this misfeature, I have no bone to pick with you.
As to joining other threads - there is the issue with Steam groups however that when those threads drop off the main page for a Steam group they tend to turn into conversations between active posters only who have become invested in their particular area in the thread. Like us here in this thread.
Thanks for this I'd looked about for ways to edit steam css and drawn a blank. I know from experiments with porting steam games that steam will run without gecko and by removing it you can force steam to simply list the games library after launch and was considering taking that route.
It sounds like you don't want anything though, there is a way to make a skin that will remove the "What's New" shelf completely, check out that link posted above, it's pretty simple to do if you want it totally gone.
Thanks for this I'm just reading through the posts linked by Flava Clown...
I'm not ignoring your posts, rather the information you're posting isn't what I'm looking for.
I don't want to learn how to work with the UI update. I want to know how to remove it as evidenced by the first post
My point is, you seem to do the same as almost everybody else, hating on the new for the sake of hating on the new.
I really hope making blind assumptions about people isn't a thing you do IRL.
As an adult I really resent being given the toddlers choice, where the debate is framed around "do you want option A or option B?" to sidestep talking about if I actually want or need A or B to begin with.
Each game I own has update and news postings associated with it already in my Library. If I want a new game I'll go to the Store. What I don't want is my Library becoming an extension of the Steam Store. I hate opt out marketing with a real passion.
You may not agree with or understand this veiwpoint, but unless you are involved with developing Steam UI I don't really think it reasonable to expect you to.
I think I've been fairly courteous to you so far while your tone increasingly less so. In short I'm not going down that path with you. Thank you for your contribution to the thread thus far.
I'm now telling you for the fourth time that you can disable that, leaving only info about updates for games you alrady have on there.
