Busy mouse cursor when navigating tray icon context menu
This thing started happening relatively recently and it's quite annoying. If I right click the Steam icon in tray and move mouse across the context menu, my mouse will always show "busy" circle mouse cursor. Anyone else getting this?

Win10 Pro 1809, fully updated, same with Steam client (release channel, not beta).

Yes, it's been happening to me as well. I'm on Win10 1803 though. It's very annoying.
Similar problem here. Every time I close a game the mouse icon become "busy". I need to close Steam to make it normal.

Same issue...mouse icon is "busy" when I close a game. However, if I move the cursor up to the top of the window, it becomes normal again. Do you have an Nvidia card?

nope. My cpu is AMD R5 1600 , Video card is AMD RX580
Even though this is a small bug, but it is very annoying.

I do have NVIDIA card (GTX 1080Ti). But my mouse cursor is only in busy state when moving it across Steam tray context menu (right click on Steam tray icon).
♥♥♥ same here i would say since a week now not longer

i installed new steam versions ofc and nvidia drivers one of the two must be it

when you havent installed drivers wich im sure not everyone of you did then its current steam version doing this

It is annoying - happening to me too. But I saw an old fix for the same issue elsewhere on the Steam discussions - navigate to Steam->Settings-Web Browser and delete all. Your little blue cursor will go away but unfortunately has been coming back. Some issue with the content not loading fully perhaps? At least it's not just my client!
yeah for me it goes away when i maximize steam window or just open a window in steam like store or something else later it comes back and goes and comes back xD

it didnt anoy me i was just wondering if something bad happend to me like virus or fals installation

the old fix worked for me. thanks for taking the time to reply to this thread. i couldnt find anything else on the issue and it was super annoying.

*edit* just wanted to pointed out something else clearing the web browser cache/cookies fixed. the last few days i had noticed one of the steamwebhelpers processes was consistantly pulling 7-10% cpu at all times. after clearing, it is back to normal at <1% when steam is in the background.

I rolled back the Nvidia drivers to 416.34...did not fix.

This did not work either.

I pulled up the Task Manager ctl-alt-del, but cannot find a big hog on any of the resources. It seems to be a small problem...as mentioned maybe something with the Steam program.

Even though the cursor is indicating busy, I can still click & load another game in my library..."odd."
Do we have a Synaptics trackpad in common?

EDIT: This is not the issue.

I have another laptop computer and when the Steam Overlay is on, the cursor problem is there; turn Steam Overlay off and no problem.

However, on this newer laptop, when Steam Overlay is ON or OFF the problem is there.

Some sort of Steam issue...?

And this ♥♥♥♥ is still going on. And I'm suspecting it's causing problems to other things because Killing Floor 2 is having constant problems recently and just a moment ago it crashed and Steam just refused to respond so I had to kill it. Something just isn't right with this damn thing.
yeah i tryed the to delete the browser chache in steam but it is still going on

it is hard for me to say if it is creating problems but maybe true

a response from steam staff would be helpful
I'd like to also confirm this bug. For the record, I'm on 1809, though the Windows build doesn't seem relevant to this issue. It started happening maybe two or three weeks ago, at least, that's when I remember noticing it.

It isn't affecting functionality, but it is irritating to look at. Occasionally, it works normally, though I haven't figured out exactly what triggers it to work yet. With a fresh reboot though, the bug is there right away. Should be easily reproducible for anyone trying to research the issue.
Same here on Windows 7. Sometimes the busy cursor is gone, when you open up the tray context menu by left click.
