Steam Murdered my ENTIRE screenshot library
I just noticed that my entire steam based KSP screenshot library is gone. I had screens dating back from when I first purchased the game like 10yrs ago. I have no clue how or why this would have happened.

Anyone else have this issue? I'm not sure when it happened, can't have been more then a week, couple tops, just noticed it tonight though when I went to go look, steam says I have no screens.

I don't get it, all my savefiles are still here, its not like a game wipe, only thing missing is my screenshots library.

:steamsad::winter2019neutralbulb::steamfacepalm::KOh::rwromg::cleanfloppy::steamsalty:

:Update: Ok so this isn't isolated to KSP. aside from the 4 screens I have saved on my profile page all other of my 501+ KSP library is gone.

in addition to that my entire steam screenshot library has been culled to anything newer than August of last year. Again I know this happened recently, I just dont know why. last I'd checked I still had like 15gb of storage space on steam.

I agree, I don't like this...

This whole change came with the LIBRARY BETA Update...

Now we are seeing the lost of Screenshots, my Art, & Game Screenshots are
disappearing, & I don't like that, because I don't have them backed up in any way...

I am already seeing Content from GITS starting to disappear, & I wanted
to keep things from before that around... My Memorable Moments are
completely gone now...

Because of this? I am taking things like Screenshots off of STEAM currently,
i'll have to go & back them up somewhere else, & if anyone asks, i'll just
have to tell them to blame Valve...

PS: When you visit your ScreenShots & your Artwork on STEAM, use the
Grid View to show a longer, bigger list of Pictures & Videos, there is a Bug
or problem where this does not work every time, so you might need to
switch back & forth, before you can start seeing your Pictures / Videos
again, going even further back then what you currently see now...

This is not perfect, & I don't see an Option to keep the Function staying
there, or saved, so you have to switch every time you visit... But it should
work, just it's not Perfect, because it's Buggy, & it still does not bring every
thing back... At least it's something to Try, though...

Good Luck...

10 Years of ScreenShots, or ScreenShots from 10 Years ago, is more then likely
been gotten rid of by now, I am sure people out there still have things from that
far back, but I can't imagine everyone does... My Entire Tomb Raider Collection,
is missing, which sux, because I had enough of those to make my own Movie with,
& really wanted to Upload some of those to STEAM...

As far as I know, I don't trust the ScreenShots being saved anymore, my Library
is going somewhere else for now on, at this point they mise we'll just stop
using the Service all together as it's utterly useless now...

They are always stored there but if you reinstall your OS or Steam without saving the folder, you will lose them.

I still have all my SSs going all the way back to the 1st time I found out about the feature.

That is what I said in my Post... I doub't everyone still has their Library of Photos,
I can't imagine everyone having STEAM from 10 Years back, most likely most
would have had it Re-Installed at least more then 1nce by now...

Due to OS Re-Installs, PC Upgrades, New Computers, & such, & such...

Op this might not be the same bug/fault as yours, but for some time the screenshot library have had problem to load for me. I see on page that i have 200 something sides to look at but bugs out after 2 or 3, and not loading and going to the side that explains screenshots and whatnot.

I have to reload and try for the sides that are after the ones that loads, mostly i try for the last and reload screenshots libray until it loads. Might take several tries for me.
It's a serverside fault, mine are still there but problematic to get hold of the older ones.

Hope it helps in someway?

What is GITS? as for this potiential "bug" thing, You are Awesome bro... Still lost a lot but, this is a hell of a lot more than the 5 images I've been grasping onto all night. the really weird thing is, the drop down menu that allows you to filter by game, doesn't even list KSP... as if I dont have the game, or don't have any images for the game. thats clearly false... THANK you again! is means quite a lot to me. I'll be porting off my imgs as well. :Khappy: :winter2019happybulb::steamhappy:

Yeah This dir still exists, slight different path but seems like what is here, is what was hidden behind the bug thing Guru informed me of.

I actually did a full system upgrade and slaved my former systems HDD in the system now, I ported over a lot but most I deleted cause I had doubles including what was on the steam cloud. But that HDD was eventually lost and since my backup was my archival HDD :steamsad: I mistakenly took steams cloud system has secure cause I've had steam since its inception, never lost a single shread of data on behalf of steam.

So I've combed through that dir you mention Hotsauce, and weirdly enough there is more viable through the screenshots program now that were hidden behind the bug thing, then are even in this dir. Odd.

Well Thank you guys for the heads up, I definately have a lot more then I thought I had just hours ago. :) Honestly my KSP screens are the only ones I really care about, that and my CSGO screens... I'd easily throw away all I have right now to get everything KSP/CSGo back :steamfacepalm:

GURU GL with your SS porting... thanks again guys

Oh, oh, don't get me wrong, I agree, it is not their fault if we don't have things Backed Up...

I agree, the issue I have isn't that it's my own Fault, my issue is, why are they
doing this at all? Why are they changing the way ScreenShots are dealt with,
why are they shortening the process, & not even warning people ahead of time
to back things up before they make the Update, & just doing the Auto-Update
without telling people...

It would at least give people time to Back things up, & the Amount of ScreenShots
I have showing, are very small numbers, I can't even hold ScreenShots from more
then like 1 Game at a time on STEAM anymore, that is how bad it is...

So what is GITS? It is a First Person Shooter Game by the Anime named
Ghost In The Shell or aka known as GITS... GITS is a Cyberpunk style Series
& Movie, that deals with exactly the Culture we are about to jump into ourselves,
if you like Cyberpunk 2077, you might wanna prob check out GITS, ^__-

The GITS Game was made by a DEV that created a Game like with Stunning Details,
it looked Insane for the time it was made, but the Dev. Treated their fans with
really bad behavior, & they took, & ran with their money... But the Game it's self
was very fun, & enjoyable, & having pictures, videos, anything of it, is something
I would really not wanna loose, at least not right now...

I still had all the Photos, & everything for the Game, everything, the problem is,
my Space on my PC was at the point of sht, & I was forced to get a new Drive,
& as dum as it sounds, I had forgotten to back things up going from C Drive
to D Drive, & had absolutely no idea that Valve shortened our ScreenShot &
Artwork Libraries before making the Switch, if I had known this ahead of time,
I would not have done this so Quick to Jump to it... I had thought my stuff was
backed up in the Cloud... Guess that is a mistake I will not be making again...

Just 1 more Problem I have to deal with Valve over, 1 more thorn in my back
by a Company that just randomly decided to Target me & the Community out
of nowhere... Kinda sux, but I dunno, ~_~

STEAM is just utterly not Enjoyable anymore, & with the Anti-Social Community
around, it's a bit harder to keep a happy face over it all...

Thank You, & hope this helped with your Question...

Things change in software. I've worked on long running applications where things change a lot from day 1 to day 5,000. We try to mitigate pain/issues or whatever. But no system is perfect either in initial implementation or upgrade processes. And no longer how much time you gave people if you waited until everyone was "ready" you'd be looking at the heat death of the universe.

And if you're not backing up your data, and waiting for Valve to warn you of changes it's only a matter of time before a hard drive failure or house fire teaches you an important lesson anyway.

Oh Yeah definately, I agree 100%. its the lack of warning that I put squarely on steams shoulders. I've been with Valve since before Steam even existed, aside from when steam came online, steam hasn't done something this stupid since steams conception. Yeah I was kinda in the same boat, and with the fact that i've had images on steam cloud for god knows how long, with not even a slight hickup, I wasn't worried. Sadly that was my fault, But no warning, thaats just not cool AT ALL!!!

BTW, never heard of GITS... However I'm quite familiar with Ghost in the shell ;) tis awesome. More on the side of the series, anime side... didn't even know there was a game. def have to check that out.

:D GLHF
The only ones i'm missing are from 2009 and 2010. It's saying i didn't upload a screen shot till feb 10th 2011. And i know that is wrong. And i know i should have more then 10k screenshots.

10k screenshots.

How do you have 10K ScreenShots?

I thought Valve put a Limit on how many we can have on STEAM?

I've had instances where I would Upload, & STEAM would give me an ERROR,
& tell me you have reached Uploading Limits, or something...

Probably because of Tomb Raider, haha... I can't remember, it was like
1,000 ScreenShots, or 9,000, or something total in just Tomb Raider...

Ghost In The Shell = GITS, it is just shortened, that is all...

Ghost In The Shell has a few Games out there...

PS1 = Ghost In The Shell Game based on 1st Movie & Comics
PS2 = Ghost In The Shell 3rd Person Game based on Stand Alone Complex Series
STEAM = GITS SAC First Assault Online based on 1st Person Shooter

STEAM Game was Only Online Play... The Game Digitally creates the 3D Character
Models like as if you coded them together with the Matrix, & it created Life Like
Character Models that had really good Quality Visuals, & it voiced the chars,
& you were able to Ride inside the Tochikomas... For a 1st Person Shooter Game,
riding inside Mobilized Robots, is really something... The first time i've seen
that ever in an FPS...

A Simple Picture could not Demonstrate how good the Game looked...

Haven't met any upper limit on the number of screenshots. But there is a limit to the size of the steam cloud, that's another matter.

I've got more than 10,000 screenshots as well, most of them not visible to others, since I transcribe in game dialogue for a wiki. But something broke with the recent updates. Let's take a guess, because steam's upper limit of X gb cloud data each player could use was probably a lie.

Or possibly something got changed, & because of the Change, Valve had
to drop some of it's Cloud Storage? I am not sure...
