problem with reading form a external hard drive

i have servel games installed on my extrenal HD yet for some reasion when i try to play them it says thay are not installed. i jsut played them 1 week ago. so how i fix this

That is where the " may connect or disconnect from the computer at inopportune times as part of their normal operations" comes into play. But to be helpful...

• Are you sure that the external drive has the same drive letter it did when you installed the games?
  
• Was Steam started before or after they drive was recognized?
