[STEAM OVERLAY] [BUG] Unable to log-in to Google?
Hello,
whenever I try to log in to Google or YouTube through my Steam Browser (in game overlay), after typing in my password, a warning comes up saying that Google couldn't log me in, as the browser used is probably unsafe, prompting me to restart and/or try again.

This made me a little paranoid, considering it used to work normally before, and considering it's Steam, like, wth Google, don't call my Steam browser unsafe. :(

Anyways, does anyone have similar issue, and if there is a way to fix it?
It logs me in just fine into other social network sites (i.e. Facebook etc.).

Thank you in advance,
dear Steam community.

It's a new security feature from Google at the start of the year. They said they have done it to make "middle man" attacks harder. Hence your google account isn't working when using the steam client. I don't know that much about it but I do know it's google doing it on purpose. I wouldn't panic.

The Steam browser does lack a lot of security features that are baked into other browsers, so in a way Google are right to label it as unsafe. Use your phone’s browser instead if you don’t want to tab out of a game.

So connecting to Youtube via Steam to get the Videos on Steam now also won't work anymore?

I already had that issue because Steam wasn't able to handle U2F protected Google Accounts, but this then suddenly was fixed with one of the Steam updates, I don't hope that issue now was resurrected.

Else they really need to update their chromium browser a bit more frequently.

There also btw. are crosssite security warnings on the Steam website and that future chrome versions that won't deliver some "insecure" cookies anymore.

You should still be able to see the videos but won't be logged into any Google based sites, so you just won't be able to Like or Favorite things via your Google user account.

What I mean is, you also need to login to your Youtube to link it to your Steam and then being able to select Videos. I anyway wondered why on Steam I need to login for that, while on Discord a simple OAuth works, but perhaps that's exactly what Google now wants to enforce eg. what Steam now needs to change.

Sometimes I'd be roaming in some open world, enjoying the scenery, while listening to podcasts and/or documentary videos, and sometimes I like to leave a comment, guess it was made slower now.

Ohwell.

I get it's for security, but why do these companies (google, microsoft, etc) need to force me to do ♥♥♥♥ their way. Why can't I just opt out of this?

I genuinely believe that Valve should approach Google about this, or upgrade their in-game browser so Google deems it safer.

I used to enjoy being logged in before, but this has been an issue for almost 3 years or something.
