Switch Pro Controller on PC as Xbox Controller
I recently purchased a Pro Controller for my switch mostly to play Smash and whatnot without worrying about drift, but I also planned to use it as a controller for my PC, but it seems games don't recognize it as a controller, at least, not an xbox one. is there anyway to get around this? Maybe a way to convince my PC it is an xbox controller? thanks.

You will need some kind of app to run it as a x360ce, then launch Steam, and it will think it's a Xbox controller.

Please note that you must run application first before running Steam.

So you want to use the Switch Pro Controller to play games on Steam and it does not work? Try setting it up on Steam. Above all you can see ''Steam'' next to ''View'', well try this: Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > and select Switch Pro Controller and configure it, or Xbox Controller. :rbrb2:

Edit: After you do that try using steam in Big Picture Mode.

You're welcome, I hope you can fix the problem. It happened to me, Steam did not recognize me the Xbox 360 controller but I configured it as I told you and it worked. You don't necessarily have to use it in Big Picture Mode but when you configure it try using it in that mode to verify if it works. Good Luck! :rbrb1:

It worked like a charm! Thank you. a little side note, you can actually configure the buttons so that A is the lowest button and B is the rightmost. This is so awesome, as I often get confused. Thank you so much for your help!

now another issue I have is that Dolphin doesn't seem to recognize the controller -.-

But at least for Steam games it works great.

I might have to get an xbox controller replacement nonetheless

Dolphin... Emulator? Sorry, I'm not the ideal to help you with emulators, I'm a bit silly in that. :(
But I'm glad I could help with Steam!

it's alright, thank you anyway :3

If you add/launch Dolphin as a non-steam game, you should be able to use the Pro controller or any other Steam input controllers in it.

Oh man, I'm sorry I genuinely don't remember. I'm not sure if Dolphin has updated by now to include pro controller support? If not you could definitely give that fix a shot to see if it'll do anything, but I frankly can't recall, sorry :c

I posted this thread back when I literally just came out as trans by the way ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time flies. yesterday was my birthday!

So its been quite awhile but I still have a pro controller to test with(albeit it has some awful drifting on it).

EDIT: Im stupid. This still works, but Steam has changed how input works over the years. Be sure to check the settings on the non-steam shortcut and ensure that the pro controller is enabled. When I first tested, it was disabled for some reason.
Seems like something has changed with either Steam or Dolphin, as it doesn't seem like Dolphin recognizes Steam Input devices when launched as a non-steam game. I recall this being an issue with games that don't support the shift+tab overlay, but even after launching a 3D game with dolphin to get the overlay running, Dolphin still couldn't see the controller.

However, Dolphin also has proper support for Switch controllers connected over USB/bluetooth now. You will have to manually configure the Pro controller in Dolphins settings if you do it this way.
