BUG: Mobile chat does not register as completed quest.

Opening a mobile chat with friends does not complete the quest, only using a browser to log into the same chat.
The friend using browser chat to connect to my mobile did receive note of completing the quest, so it is not that both sides have to be using the same method.
Using browser instead worked immediately. Still, annoying bug is annoying.

EDIT: Apparently there is separate chat app for Steam that you need to use to complete this quest. Which was mentioned over half a year ago somewhere but most people don't even seem to know about.

So this quest is actually Valve's attempt at making people download a new app on their phone even though the original Steam app already has the chat function, and people who want a chat only app would already have something installed so they don't need a new one.

Didn't help that clicking on those links prompts me to download the app ON MY COMPUTER. You know the one, that thing running Windows, not Android which the app is for.

And no matter how much space my phone's SD card has the damned thing always wants to waste phone memory when installing something so I am not going to install any random apps I don't need and wouldn't use more than once per year.

It does register, but if you use the mobile chat vs the web browser, you have to log out and log back in see it register...but it does work

So totally log out, not just shut down the program and restart?

I can't even use mobile. When I choose to enter a group chat it wants to launch web view. So I say yes, then get a white screen with nothing. This whole chat stuff is just stupid.

It must be done in a browser or the new Chat app.

Tried it on mobile app, didnt work. Logged in to web chat via browser and it worked.

The mobile authenticator app is not what the task asked for.

It specifically stated Chat app.

What the hell is Steam Mobile Chat app? There is no such thing. The only mobile apps they have are Steam and Steam Link. So naturally since the Steam app has chat built in that is what people are going to go use.

Not spreading misinformation. I just searched the Google Play store and it does not exist. Also they could do a better job alerting people about this app. Their blog is a blog that nobody visits.

It DOES exist whether or not YOU see it.

It was announced in May and various new sites even posted about it.

Another Valve apologist here. If I search and others do and Valve does just ONE BLOG POST ABOUT IT. Nobody knows it exists. Maybe they should make sure people are aware of something before requiring it in an event.

So again, I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to a blog post and the news articles I wouldn't read since I don't visit those sites back in May. You really showed me. God forbid Valve actually educates and notifies their consumers on a consistent basis. Most do not visit the blog and even if I or others read one of those articles at the time, if Valve isn't constantly reminding and informing consumers on what they offer you are not going to remember it exists. It's piss poor marketing on Valve's part which really is no surprise.
