The big supermarket chains, Gamestop, most gas stations and so on.
Just bought 2 x50 Euro cards yesterday.
Maybe its a regional thing?
Also there is zero chance that Steam is going out of business at the moment. So far they each year raised their win margin and 2019 is not a exception. Valve/Steam is healthier then ever at the moment.
Just something you may want to know, if you ask the store manager, may get more cards at your request.
I know Game Stop / EB Games still sell them, either sell the cards, or have to ask for a code which be printed on a receipt.
Walmart should still be selling them, and if you ask them they will stock up.
It could've been regional thing,
Well even if steam out of business it would be bought by someone else with a really ridiculous bidding or they just going to sank it all down.
As for GameStop I am pretty sure people treat that place as a joke most of the times.
Can someone say the same for console?
Like far as I know in Canada for our cards it's made by company called Fast Card. While at EB Games / Game Stop, they only sell you code printed on the receipt.
Yea maybe so i am not entirely sure how it works but since both eb and game closed down we are resolved to steam. While most of us aint that effected by it, some grandma might want to buy it to their kids on christmas or whatnot?
and tbh we have cards for paypal, android market and others it shouldent be that hard for other retailers to pick upp the slack from eb and gamestop.
It's strange because I've bought them at the exact Wal-Mart I just left before, some time ago though. With an entire wall of cards from so many obscure places, it's odd to look even in the digital media cards and find Xbox, PlayStation, Google Play, etc. but Steam is nowhere to be seen.
Currently waiting on GameStop to open, hopefully, they'll have them there.
Note: I found and replied to this after myself doing a Google search trying to find out what happened to Dteam gift cards. No one seems to know, but there are several posts and threads around the internet asking the same thing.
Edit: So after some serious asking around I found an employee at Target willing to help me track one down. His inventory system said they had 21 of the $20 cards. We eventually found a ton of $100 cards in the electronics section with the Roblox, Origin, Minecraft, etc. cards.
There was no spot for the $20 cards, only $100 cards, but at least steam cards still exist here.
Thanks. I know the digital ones are still there, but I was looking for a physical one to put in a birthday card I'm sending someone.
If I don't find one when GamdStop opens, I'll give in and buy a digital one and print it.
Not a Steam issue. That's companies choosing not to carry or order enough of them.
Bestbuy had 20/25 whichever, 50, 100 at a fairly dead one. Had a lot of them.
It helps to go to the right places and a few posts hardly makes a huge issue. Plus you can reload through the client itself.
Businesses choose what to carry or not, them ordering a sufficient quantity is on them. If they choose to continue carrying anything. Your state is also doing not so well and is considering doubling the tax rate for income, so luxury items are more likely to not be carried if they're not a high selling item.
No I don't think it's a sign of anything, Steam is regularly hitting new record high player numbers. "People said Steam do dumb thing" is not exactly a compelling argument for anything lol.
