Is not yet eligible to receive this gift
Wow. Stupidest effing thing I ever heard. Was going to get my son $50.00 steam for xmas, but sorry, your rule just cost ya that sale.
Hundreds. Thousands. MILLIONS of online secure transactions every day but Steam can't handle any of them without a 3-day wait (that isn't going to protect anything anyway)? Starting to make sense why the games i have tried off here suck a$$ a lot of the time - if ya can't handle a simple secure cc transaction how will you ever make something as complex as a game work?

Steam friends for 3 days is a protection measure when you realize the many users that send money for skins (at least used to) and get scammed.

https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard

There's a FAQ for a reason...

Are there any restrictions on purchasing digital gift cards?
You and your friend must both have Steam accounts and you'll need to be friends on Steam. You can purchase Steam digital gift cards for any user that you have had on your friends list for at least 3 days. Please note that you cannot use existing wallet funds to purchase a digital gift card.

There's also a reason for restrictions, security purposes.

I'm sure you could have purchased a physical card on the way home too.

I know how you feel...

Both me & a friend of mine, both only needed 1 Card to
Craft a Badge for the Holiday Events just released...

Neither one of us could make the Trade...

1.) His Cards were not Appearing in the List of Trades...

2.) I was required to wait a full 15 Days before I could
even Trade with him at all, due to the fact that I don't use
a Phone Attached to my Account... Which is Bull... But any
ways... Due to the 15 Day wait Period, this is bothersome,
because I only had 16 Days to make the Trade, before I
could no longer make use of my Trade...

This only gave me & my friend a full 1 Day to actually
Accept the Trade... That utterly sucks...

I don't know how others feel about Trading Cards?

But to me, it is actually getting, harder, & harder to
Craft Badges, & even get Trading Cards... It's becoming
a big issue, i've got tons, but have only Crafted 1 Badge
in 11 Years on here, due to the fact I never had all
the Cards needed to, & was never eleg... for
doing so...

It is just becoming way more trouble then it's worth...
In the past people made better luck with Gems,
where as now, I heard you make a lot less with Gems...

STEAM Friends for 3 Days is Required for Safety? Man,
how much Security does STEAM need, I get it, but still
they are taking it a bit overboard, are they not?

The security is not for Valve. It's for the user.

You thank all those people who abused steam features and it's reason why alot of thing are painful nowadays.

I know, but when things are so secure that it's a problem
for the User, & they can't actually do anything with it...

It becomes over protective, & overkill, to the point
where it stops people from wanting to have it around...

I agree, but in this world sometimes you can't have nice things because of all the bad characters.
RedLightning Dec 23, 2019 @ 6:29pm
Well then the bad characters win I guess..

Sad that they get their way.. causing issues and grief.

Or Valve might just not want to enter into the risk of doing business and treat non crim types with some respect.
Paratech2008 Dec 23, 2019 @ 6:39pm
People easily getting scammed is the problem. People not reading the warnings on the forums. People who are greedy and use 3rd party sites giving their Steam account info in the process and baking Valve afterwards.

In the end Valve doesn't want to get overrun with 'hacked' account threads so security measures had to be added.

Wow, wish I had thought of that. Or, well, maybe more to the point, wish the FIVE DIFFERENT STORES I went to over the last 2 days looking for them had HAD them in stock... 3 Walgreens, 2 Best Buys, straight off the Steam list where I checked.

There are many ways to make a cc transaction secure (such as virtual card numbers) to protect the user. What is this, the stone age? Oh, that's right, it's the LIBERAL age, where we have to be told what to do because we are incapable of thinking for ourselves. Thank you Steam for keeping me from having to use my brain, I probably would have entered my Mastercard number 0000-1111-2222-3333 exp. date 02/2099 ccv 666 into general chat asking if someone could try to make it work for me because I couldn't.

A ton have pulled them from stock due to fraud. Mainly on a store by store basis.
