They won't expire, but they're still "consumables". 30 uses per unlock in the market.
If you use them in chat, they will show (few second animation on the entire window) and can be re-played by clicking on the replay button that will stay there for individual use.

I am concerned about this, too.

So, if I buy e.g., the Fireworks, does this allow me to bless THIRTY different conversations each with an unlimited supply of Fireworks?

But now you can choose the timepoint of eternity WHEN to consume them... till yet they would disappear from inventory after some time, but now only after used 30 times. IF steam did not again describe somethin in a wrong way (like they are used to do on each single event)
