Just don't use it in vac protected games like counter strike global offensive if you still have doubts about the softwares.

don't post on origin forums period, if you manage to annoy someone and get banned there you get your games taken away, not sure if this policy changed, but not worth the risk

as for your original question, yes, its safe, just that its one of the most popular things for getting controllers to work and you may have an infected version depending on where you get it, but the real version is safe

and as for banned in games, its as safe as anything else. any method for spotting hacks/cheats is possible to trip something and ban you, vac for instance had a period of time it was banning people for listening to music. I honestly hate auto systems because everyone who isn't tech literate thinks they are flawless and never have false positives, so it can turn into a nightmare if you trip something.

Upsetting someone on Origin forum doesn't get your games revoke.

Doing something that against the terms and agreement is a different story, and emotional cases are not part of the terms and agreement.

Steam has a built-in input mapper. Use that.
Alright thanks everyone

at one point reporting bugs was getting people banned and game access locked, granted this was a long time ago, so I don't know what changed, but the fact that pissing someone off was enough to get game access revoked is enough to never use it for me.

I find the steam inputmapper lacking, if steam doesn't recognize your controller, you map the inputs yourself, but if you don't have a full controller, let's say you are mapping a fight stick, the input mapper will not let you finish anything. this was an issue with one of the fighting games I have not allowing direct input and requiring x input, so I kept trying to get steam to map the thing but it failed every time.

in the end I had to get a keyboard controller mapper for that controller, and just use keyboard inputs. bit of a pain but oh well, better then needing to pay 100+$ to get one that will have xinput at the time.

Depending on the developer and the significance of the bug, reporting sometimes needs to be done discretely. If you post publicly about a game-breaking exploit in a multi-player game, for example, that could be interpreted as spreading information on how to cheat at the game "disguised" as a bug posting.

That would be false. VAC only operates by detecting KNOWN cheats. That's why its over 99% accurate. People like to claim they were banned for false stuff, but surprisingly enough people caught cheating tend to be dishonest and do whatever they can to try to keep cheating.....

It's was never added on the client, their EA forum, you had to go to EA site to find it, or google it.

Can you show me example of such? Because I never heard such of case, unless they did something to break the terms, you would have to do something really bad to piss someone that much to do something as such, to act out beyond the terms and agreement to an emotional level.

If this is about someone abusing a bug in the system, to ruin others gameplay, or trying to cheat the leaderboard, and etc, then yea it's pretty clear you would get ban for such an act as that.

I need call this part out, because I know you don't get banned for listening to music, unless you're hooking something into the game which then cause it to trigger, also btw hotkeys don't count when changing songs on a 3rd party app... VAC is a automated system, which only knows how to trigger if it detects using known cheats, which anything that hooks into the game itself, and does changes to the game data, or even the game files may trigger the system it was made to do, now if it ever made an error VAC does revert itself as well for those that were affected by the false positive, and this is not common btw.
