Logging into steam account while game is downloading?

If a game is downloading on a steam from one pc, can I logout of that account and login to another account on the same pc without losing download progress?

I don't know that you even have to log out. I think steam only stops you from simultaneously playing on multiple computers. If it the a game that you can play offline here is a way around it though. Start your download, then boy your second computer. If you have steam set to auto start when you boot, right click the Steam icon in the right lower corner of your screen to exit. Then turn off wifi on the computer you are going to game on. Start your hand and when Steam gives you the option choose "start in offline mode".

If that other account has the game or you're family sharing between accounts then, you can switch accounts and keep on downloading. Otherwise, you'll keep the download progress but download will pause.

Update : Swapped accounts after 32g of new world download and logged back in and none of the download saved
